FACILITATED 39 SHORT-TERM PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMS, VIRTUALLY CONNECTING ALMOST 500 INTERNATIONAL EMERGING LEADERS WITH AREA PROFESSIONALS AND MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY
PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR MEMBERS AND LOCAL COMMUNITY EXPERTS TO FOSTER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CROSS-CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING BY MEETING WITH DISTINGUISHED INTERNATIONAL LEADERS, VIRTUALLY AND IN-PERSON FURTHER ADVANCING FOREIGN POLICY GOALS AND INCREASING MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STUDENTS OF SERVICE (SOS) AND KITCHEN CAMPUS, WE LAUNCHED A SERIES OF THREE "CULTURE & CUISINE" EVENTS SACIV MEMBERS JOINED STUDENTS IN THE SOS PROGRAM FOR A LIVE COOKING DEMONSTRATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE DISHES FROM EACH OF THESE COUNTRIES SACIV ALSO HOSTED A "EXPO COMMUNITY CONVERSATION" EVENT AT THE UNAM SAN ANTONIO CAMPUS IN HEMISFAIR PARK FEATURING A DISCUSSION ON THE HISTORY OF EXPOS (ALSO KNOWN AS WORLD'S FAIRS) HELD ON U.S. SOIL AND THE SOCIO-CULTURAL IMPACT OF EXPOS ON THE U.S. CITIES ORAL HISTORIAN DR. ANNA KAPLAN AND MS. KARA SNEKO OF THE US DEPARTMENT OF STATE SHARED THEIR FINDINGS FROM INTERVIEWS WITH LOCAL ORGANIZERS AND PARTICIPANTS WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY A DISCUSSION MODERATED BY ANNE KRAUSE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE HEMISFAIR CONSERVANCY, ON THE FUTURE OF EXPOS AND THE UNITED STATES' ROLE ROLE IN BRINGING EXPOS BACK IN A MORE INCLUSIVE WAY BY HIGHLIGHTING OUR COUNTRY'S DIVERSITY AS A STRENGTH OF OUR DEMOCRACY.
