PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION OF THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF THE TAP PILAM COAHUILTECAN NATION AND OTHER INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF THE SPANISH COLONIAL MISSIONS IN SOUTH TEXAS

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

FAMILY HEALTH AND WELLNESS-AMERICAN INDIAN INDIGENOUS CULTURAL AND TRADITIONAL PRACTICE-BASED PROGRAMMING WITH OUR SAN ANTONIO FATHERHOOD CAMPAIGN HEALING THE WOUNDED SPIRIT AND 7TH GENERATION DUALA SUPPORT SERVICES. WE SERVE OVER 5000 FAMILIES ANNUALLY THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS MENTORSHIP AND REFERRALS. IN ADDITION COUNSELING SERVICES PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT TO VETERANS FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS THROUGH ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS TALKING CIRCLES AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE TRAINING.


INDIGENOUS ARTS- AMERICAN INDIAN INDIGENOUS CULTURAL AND TRADITIONAL PRACTICE-BASED PROGRAMMING WITH OUR MULTI-DISCIPLINARY AMERICAN INDIAN ART EVENTS SUCH AS FILM SCREENINGS POETRY READINGS AND PERFORMANCES ART EXHIBITS CULINARY ARTS AND AMERICAN INDIAN MARKETS. AIT CONDUCTS MISSION HERITAGE TOURS OF THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE INDIAN MISSIONS OF SAN ANTONIO. WE ALSO PROVIDE AMERICAN INDIAN ARTS AND CULTURE SCHOOL BASED EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS COMMUNITY-BASED WORKSHOPS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH CULTURAL ARTS.


COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT- AMERICAN INDIAN INDIGENOUS CULTURAL AND TRADITIONAL PRACTICE-BASED PROGRAMMING WITH OUR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT BASE BUILDING RESTORATIVE JUSTICE AND HEALING YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRIBAL AND URBAN NATIVE EQUITY AND ADVOCACY. TRAINING IS PROVIDED TO COMMUNITIES AND SCHOOLS ON ELECTORAL PROCESSES RESTORATIVE JUSTICE DISCIPLINE AND IN THE USE OF COMMUNITY CIRCLES THAT FOSTER HEALING. IN ADDITION OUR YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM RITES OF PASSAGE CLASSES ARE IMPLEMENTED IN LOCAL SCHOOLS AND IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL JUVENILE COURTS.
