RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE (RMH) - THE UTAH RMH PROVIDED 10,935 FREE OVERNIGHT STAYS FOR 894 PEDIATRIC PATIENT FAMILIES (2,306 INDIVIDUALS) IN 2021. DURING THE YEAR, WE HOSTED 894 FAMILIES WITHIN OUR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE, WITH 102 FAMILIES IN EMERGENCY OFF-SITE LODGING THROUGH COVID 19. THE AVERAGE LENGTH OF STAY GREW FROM FIVE NIGHTS TO 17 NIGHTS. RMHC FOCUSED ITS RESOURCES ON FAMILIES WITH THE HIGHEST ACUITY CHILDREN, TRAVELING THE GREATEST DISTANCE. IN ADDITION TO FREE LODGING, WE PROVIDED DAILY HOSPITAL SHUTTLES, FAMILY GROCERIES AND 21,530 FREE MEALS.
RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM (RMFR)- OUR HOSPITAL-BASED PROGRAMS WELCOMED 2,440 IN-PATIENT FAMILIES (4,193 INDIVIDUALS) FOR 19,897 VISITS TO OUR TWO RMFR PROGRAMS WITHIN PRIMARY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN 2021. THE RMFR PROGRAM OFFERED FREE SHOWERS, LAUNDRY, AND SERVED 20,650 FREE MEALS FOR PATIENT FAMILIES. THE EIGHT OVERNIGHT SLEEPING ROOMS OFFERED 1,880 FREE OVERNIGHT STAYS FOR PARENTS OF HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN. IN DECEMBER 2021, WE ALSO LAUNCHED A NEW RMFR PROGRAM FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH HOSPITAL NEWBORN INTENSIVE CARE UNIT, WITH SHOWERS, LAUNDRY, GRAB AND GO MEALS AND OVERNIGHT STAYS WITHIN THREE GUEST ROOMS. THE RMFR PROGRAMS OFFERED RESPITE FOR FAMILIES OF HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN WITH OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS, DAYTIME NAPS, SHOWERS, LAUNDRY, AND A FULLY STOCKED KITCHENS.
