TO ACHIEVE THIS MISSION THE SOCIETY EMBRACES THE FOLLOWING METHODS: "PROMOTING OPTIMAL PATIENT CARE ACCORDING TO THE GUIDELINES OUTLINED IN THE PARAMETERS OF CARE, DEVELOPED BY AND FOR THE SPECIALTY OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY. "MAINTAINING THE SPECIALTY'S POSITION AS THE PRE-EMINENT PROVIDER OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGICAL CARE. "ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING A STATE ORGANIZATION OF THE HIGHEST CALIBER THAT SERVES ALL ELIGIBLE ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEONS IN TEXAS. "MAINTAINING A STRONG AND OPEN COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITY AND PRIVATE SECTOR TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY CARE TO ALL PATIENTS. CONTRIBUTE TO THE GENERAL HEALTH AND WELFARE OF THE CITIZENS OF TEXAS BY EDUCATING THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE REGARDING THE SPECIFIC ADVANCED TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND FUNCTIONS OF THOSE DENTISTS WHO PRACTICE ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY ON AN EXCLUSIVE BASIS; TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE PRACTICE OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS AND QUALITY, TO THE END THAT THE RELATIONS OF THE PROFESSION WITH THE PUBLIC SHALL BE WORTHY OF FULL CONFIDENCE; TO ENCOURAGE THE MEMBERS TO DISCHARGE THEIR CIVIC AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE COMMUNITY; AND TO PROVIDE AMONG ITS MEMBERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY.
