THE SAN ANTONIO GOLF ASSOCIATION, INC. DBA GOLF SAN ANTONIO, IS A NON- PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOUNDED IN 1938 AND INCORPORATED IN 1953 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FOSTERING GOLF COMPETITION IN THE SAN ANTONIO METROPOLITAN AREA. THE PRIMARY MEANS BY WHICH THE ORGANIZATION ACCOMPLISHES ITS PURPOSE ARE: 1) MANAGING AND SPONSORING A SERIES OF CITY-WIDE AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS AND 2) MANAGING FACILITIES AND YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS OF THE FIRST TEE OF SAN ANTONIO (THE FIRST TEE) LOCATED AT THE POLO FIELD DRIVING RANGE AT BRACKENRIDGE PARK. THE FIRST TEE MISSION STATEMENT IS "TO IMPACT THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE BY PROVIDING LEARNING FACILITIES AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND LIFE ENHANCING VALUES THROUGH THE GAME OF GOLF." THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUES TO FUND THESE ACTIVITIES THROUGH SPONSORSHIPS AND CONTRIBUTIONS FROM VARIOUS INDIVIDUALS AND COMPANIES. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF PARTICIPANTS IN THE CURRENT YEAR.
THE ORGANIZATION PUTS ON SEVERAL COMPETITIVE TOURNAMENTS AND EXHIBIITIONS TO PROMOTE THE GOLF EXPERIENCE FOR JUNIORS, SENIORS AND OTHERS (MEN & WOMEN), BY HOSTING THESE CITY-WIDE CHAMPIONSHIPS. THERE ARE MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN THE RULES AND ETIQUETTE FOR THIS CHALLENGING GAME. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF PARTICIPANTS IN THE CURRENT YEAR.
