Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PROJECT TCMS IS A COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO SPECIALTY HEALTH CARE FOR LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED RESIDENTS OF TULSA COUNTY. IT COMBINES CARE PROVIDED IN PRIMARY CARE SAFETY NET CLINICS IN TULSA COUNTY WITH DONATED SPECIALTY CARE IN A COORDINATED REFERRAL PROGRAM LED BY THE TULSA COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY FOUNDATION. THIS PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED BECAUSE THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR NON-EMERGENT SPECIALTY CARE FOR THE LOW-INCOME, UNINSURED PATIENTS. DURING 2021, SERVICES AND MATERIALS VALUED AT $750,771 WERE PROVIDED TO LOW-INCOME PATIENTS WHO OTHERWISE WOULD NOT HAVE RECEIVED CARE.
THE FOUNDATION MAKES FACILITIES AVAILABLE FOR ACTIVITIES OF TULSA COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY AND OTHER MEDICAL COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS TO HOLD MEETINGS AND EVENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CHARITABLE AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PURPOSES OF THE FOUNDATION.
THE TCMS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO SECOND, THIRD, AND FOURTH YEAR MEDICAL STUDENTS. A COMMITTEE IS APPOINTED TO REVIEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AND SELECT RECIPIENTS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. FOR 2021, $35,000 WAS AWARDED TO 9 MEDICAL STUDENTS MAKING THE CUMULATIVE TOTAL AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS $1,416,550 TO 1,318 MEDICAL STUDENTS. IN ADDITION, LEADERSHIP IS ENCOURAGED THROUGH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS WHO JOIN STATE AND NATIONAL MEDICAL SOCIETIES AND ATTEND THEIR MEETINGS. THE TCMS FOUNDATION IS VERY PROUD TO INVEST IN THE FUTURE OF HEALTH CARE BY SUPPORTING MEDICAL STUDENTS AND ENGAGING THEM IN ORGANIZED MEDICINE EARLY IN THEIR CAREER.
