OAK ALLEY FOUNDATION IS A 501(C)(3) PUBLIC NONPROFIT TRUST ORGANIZED AND OPERATED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE, LITERARY AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. ITS TRUSTEES ARE CHARGED WITH MAINTAINING AND PRESERVING THE OAK ALLEY PLANTATION MANSION (BIG HOUSE) AND SURROUNDING SIXTY-THREE (63) ACRE NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK SITE FOR PUBLIC EXHIBITION AS AN HISTORICAL MONUMENT TO THE TIMES AND ERA DURING WHICH THE PROPERTY WAS BUILT AND FOR THE INSTRUCTION, EDUCATION, ENLIGHTENMENT, INFORMATION, EDIFICATION AND CULTURAL BENEFIT OF THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA, AND UNITED STATES AND THE PUBLIC GENERALLY. OAK ALLEY FOUNDATION EXISTS TO PRESERVE THE PLANTATION HOUSE, OUTBUILDINGS, ANTIQUES, ARTWORK AND GROUNDS. VISITORS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD CAN BE EDUCATED ABOUT LIFE ON A PLANTATION IN LOUISIANA IN THE 19TH CENTURY. OAK ALLEY PROVIDES TOURS AS WELL AS SPECIAL EVENT RECREATIONS SUCH AS CHRISTMAS BONFIRES, ALL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. NEW EXHIBITS AND REFINEMENTS TO THE PROPERTY AND VISITOR EXPERIENCE ARE ONGOING.
