TO ENHANCE THE FISH AND WILDLIFE RESOURCES IN LOUISIANA. TO PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE OF THE LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES (DEPT.) AND THE LOUISIANA WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES COMMISSION (COMM.). TO DEVELOP, EXPAND AMD IMPROVE THE FACILITIES OF THE DEPT. AND COMM. IN ORDER TO ENHANCE THEIR ABILITY TO PERFORM THEIR MISSION, ENCOURAGE PUBLIC ENJOYMENT AND USE OF FISH AND WILDLIFE RESOURCES IN LOUISIANA AND TO CONSERVE AND PRESERVE WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES HABITATS. LOUISIANA GULF SEAFOOD PROMOTION TOGETHER WITH THE LOUISIANA SEAFOOD PROMOTION AND MARKETING BOARD, THE FOUNDATION IS CONDUCTING AN EXTENSIVE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN PROMOTING THE SAFETY AND QUALIITY OF LOUISIANA GULF OF MEXICO SEAFOOD FOLLOWING THE 2010 GULF OF MEXICO OIL SPILL.
LOUISIANA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE - OFFICE OF SECRETARY THE FOUNDATION WORKED COOPERATIVELY WITH LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF FISHERIES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOR FISHERMAN IN NEED OF SEAFOOD PROCESSORS AND COLD-STORAGE FACILITIES WHILE THEIR OWN WAS OUT OF USE DURING THE PERIOD AFTER HURRICANE IDA. THE FOUNDATION RAISED FUNDS THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF DORE CORPORATION AND BATON ROUGE AREA FOUNDATION IN ORDER TO BID FOR GENERATOR RENTALS USED TO POWER THE COLD-STORAGE FACILITIES.
ARCHERY IN LOUISIANA SCHOOLS THE FOUNDATION CORRESPONDS WITH THE NATIONAL ARCHERY IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS IN GRADES 4-12 TO INTERNATIONAL TARGET STYLE ARCHERY AS PART OF IN-SCHOOL CURRICULUM. SCHOOLS INTEGRATE VIA PHYSCIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS, AND ARCHERY CLUBS. THE GOAL IS TO INSTILL CONFIDECE IN STUDENTS THROUGH FOCUS AND DISCIPLINE THAT THE SPORT REQURIES WITH THE HOPE THAT THE STUDENTS WILL BECOME MORE INVOVLED WITH THE SPORT FOR A LIFETIME, AS WELL AS THE OUTDOORS.
