ART MUSIC AND FILM EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS.SEBARTS FACILITY WAS SHUTTERED DURING PART OF THE YEAR DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC HOWEVER, MOST EVENTS AND ON-SITE ACTIVITIES RESUMED IN JUNE 2021. SEBARTS SEBASTOPOL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL (SDFF) WAS HELD ONLINE AND TITLED DOCS MAKE HOUSE CALLS. GALLERY EXHIBITIONS, REOPENED AND WERE HEAVILY ATTENDED. EXHIBITIONS INCLUDED: BLACK & WHITE & SHADES OF GREY, FIBER ARTS X, EXTRACTION, OR THE WHALE, THE ART OF RECYCLING, FAVORITE THINGS: TREES, ECSTASY-THE BREATHTAKING BEAUTY OF NATURE, AND THE GALLERY SHOWS OF SEBARTS OPEN STUDIO EVENTS. IN PERSON POETRY READINGS AND MUSIC EVENTS ALSO RESUMED.
OPEN ART STUDIOSSEBARTS IN-PERSON ARTIST OPEN STUDIO EVENTS RESUMED POST COVID. THE ARTISTS PARTICIPATING IN THE OPEN STUDIO EVENTS REPORTED THAT IT WAS ONE OF THEIR MOST SUCCESSFUL YEARS IN TERMS OF ATTENDANCE WITH OVER 40,000 INDIVIDUAL VISITS TO PARTICIPATING ARTISTS STUDIOS.
EDUCATIONADULT CLASSES WERE PRESENTED IN BOTH ART HISTORY AND HANDS ON TECHNIQUES IN CREATING ART. SEBARTS CONTINUED ITS SPECIAL DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM FOR ACADEMICALLY AT-RISK CHILDREN MARGINALIZED BY ONLINE LEARNING. THESE WERE CHILDREN WHO COULD NOT BE IN THE CLASSROOM DUE TO COVID AND WHO DID NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES OR SKILLS TO PARTICIPATE SUCCESSFULLY IN THE ONLINE CLASSES PROVIDED BY THEIR SCHOOL DISTRICTS. SEBARTS PARTNERED WITH LOCAL PUBLIC-SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND SET UP A SPECIAL COVID SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THESE CHILDREN, HIRED ONE TEACHING ASSISTANT FOR EVERY SIX CHILDREN, AND DELIVERED AN ARTS-BASED CURRICULUM, PLUS SUPPORTING THE CHILDREN WITH ONLINE LEARNING. IN THE SUMMER AN ARTS CAMP WAS OFFERED THAT INCLUDED CAMPERSHIPS FOR THESE CHILDREN SO THEY COULD PARTICIPATE WITH OTHER CHILDREN WHOSE FAMILIES COULD AFFORD CAMP FEES.
