VOCA PROGRAM - PROVIDING "ONE ON ONE" SCHOOLING TO CHILDREN THAT HAD SUFFERED FROM EMOTIONAL AND PARENTAL ABUSE BULLYING AND OTHER SITUATIONS THAT IMPACTED PROPER EDUCATION. THIS PROJECT WAS DONE THANKS TO CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. THE END OBJECTIVES ARE TO HELP THESE STUDENTS ADVANCE AND COMPLETE THEIR EDUCATIONAL PROCESS. THE PROGRAM WAS CONCENTRATED IN THE SOUTHWESTERN PART OF PUERTO RICO. THIS AREA HAD BEEN DEEPLY IMPACTED BY THE EARTHQUAKES THAT OCCURRED IN JANUARY OF 2020. THESE DESTROYED THE TOWN OF GUANICA AND AFFECTED THE MUNICIPALITY OF PONCE AND ADJACENT TOWNS. MANY SCHOOLS WERE DESTROYED AND THOSE THAT REMAINED WERE DECLARED UNSAFE. THE NEV PLATFORM WAS UTILIZED TO DO THE "ONE ON ONE" SPECIFICS.
NEV: THIS IS THE "NUEVA ESCUELA VIRTUAL" PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING WEBINARS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS PARENTS AND TEACHERS IN THE USE OF THE NEV SOFTWARE PLATFORM. THE PLATFORM CONTAINS THE REGULAR CURRICULUM APPROVED BY THE PUERTO RICO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SO THESE DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS MAY MAINTAIN THEIR PROGRESS AND SCHOLARITY.
SCHOLARSHIPS; THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO HIGH PERFORMING STUDENTS AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL. THE FUNDS ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO ACCESS TOP SCHOOLS NOT ONLY IN PUERTO RICO BUT ALSO IN THE MAINLAND.
