TO PRESERVE, PROMOTE, AND EXHIBIT THE ARTS OF THE CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
EDUCATION - CMCARTS IS THE CREATIVE BRIDGE IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE ART OR LIMITED ART ACCESS IN THEIR PUBLIC, PRIVATE, OR HOMESCHOOL CLASSROOMS BY PROVIDING ART OPPORTUNITIES. A CORE PROGRAM IS THE VISITING ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM THAT ANNUALLY INVITES 7-9 ARTISTS TO FOCUS ON THEIR WORK WHILE PROVIDING IMPACTFUL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND ART PROGRAMMING THROUGH YOUTH AND TEEN WORKSHOPS FOR PUBLIC, PRIVATE AND HOMESCHOOLED STUDENTS BOTH IN SCHOOLS AND AT CMCARTS. VISITING ARTISTS ARE SELECTED FOR THEIR DIVERSITY IN BOTH CULTURE AND ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES TO PROVIDE WELL ROUNDED EXPERIENCES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES.
EXHIBITIONS - CMCARTS' PRIMARY PROGRAMMING IS EDUCATION IN THE ARTS THAT IS PRESENTED THROUGH BEAUTIFUL EXHIBITIONS THAT SHOWCASE ARTWORK AND IMMERSIVE ART INSTALLATIONS CREATED BY ARTISTS, CURATORS AND CREATIVES FROM THE VI, THE CARIBBEAN AND THE DIASPORA. THROUGH EXHIBITIONS, CMCARTS IS PRODUCING PART OF THE NATIONAL RECORD AND ARCHIVES FOR THE USVI BY PROMOTING AND PRESERVING THE VOICE OF THE USVI.
