THE SUNSCREEN FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATED ITS 17TH YEAR IN ST. PETERSBURG IN 2022. SUNSCREEN IS THE ONLY MAJOR FILM FESTIVAL HELD ANNUALLY IN PINELLAS COUNTY. IT IS AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED EVENT THAT HAS BEEN POSITIVELY ENHANCING THE CITY OF ST. PETERSBURG FOR OVER 16 YEARS. THE SSFF HAS BEEN CONSISTENT IN ITS PROMOTION OF ST. PETERSBURG, DEDICATION TO ENHANCING AND PROMOTING THE VISUAL ARTS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND CREATING OPPORTUNITES FOR ARTISTS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE.
CANNES IS THE LARGEST FILM FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD WITH THE LARGEST FILM TRADESHOW IN THE WORLD. THE ORGANIZATION IS ABLE TO NETWORK AND MEET OTHER FILM FESTIVALS, FILMAKERS, AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS TO GROW THE PROFILE OF THE SUNSCREEN FILM FEST AND ATTRACT MORE FILM SUBMISSIONS TO THE FESTIVAL.
THE SUNSCREEN FILM FESTIVAL HELD ITS 10TH ANNUAL FILM FESTIVAL IN HERMOSA BEACH, CA IN 2022. IT IS A GROWING EVENT THAT DIFFERS FROM THE FLORIDA EVENT THAT IT ENHANCES THE SOUTH BAY AREA OF LOS ANGELES WHERE IT TAKES PLACE. FILMS, EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS AND PROGRAMMING REFLECT THE DIVERSE CULTURE OF THE AREA AND PROMOTES THE VISUAL ARTS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE.
THE SUNSCREEN FILM SCHOOL IS A 4 WEEK FILM CAMP. OVER 4 WEEKS STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO MAKE A GOOD INDEPENDENT FILM. TAUGHT BY WORKING PROFESSIONALS IN THE INDUSTRY. STUDENTS WILL WRITE, PRODUCE, FILM AND COMPLETE A SHORT FILM OVER THE COURSE OF THE CAMP.
