DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER 82 SINGLE AND HEAD-OF-HOUSEHOLD PARENTS FROM MADISON CO, MS COMPLETED 12 HOURS OF EDUCATIONAL INSTRUCTION FOR THEIR CHILDREN (APPROX 252) SO THEIR CHILDREN RECEIVD NEW BOOK BAGS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES. PROVIDED CHRISTMAS GIFTS AND FOOD TO 491 IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS. PROVIDED CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO APPROXIMATELY 1,292 FAMILIES (3,187 TOTAL INDIVIDUALS) IN NEED THROUGH COAT AND BLANKET DISTRIBUTION AND CLOTHES CLOSET SHOPPING. PROVIDED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO IMPOVERISHED FAMILIES IN THE FORM OF PAID UTILITIES AND PRESCRIPTION DRUG ASSISTANCE.
THE NEW ATTITUDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM HAD 254 INDIVIDUALS COMPLETE 12 HOURS OF ADULT BASIC EDUCATION AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS WERE ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND BOOK BAGS FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND/OR FOR HELP DURING THE HOLIDAYS THROUGH OUR "HOLIDAY ADOPT A CHILD" PROGRAM. SUMMER CAMPS WERE HELD FOR 8 WEEKS FOR 172 MADISON CO CHILDREN INCLUDING ARTS AND CRAFT, HEALTHY COOKING, BIBLE STUDY, VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AND LEADERSHIP CAMP.
HOUSING SERVICES: HOUSING REPAIRS WERE CONDUCTED THROUGHOUT MADISON COUNTY FOR THE IMPOVERISHED COMMUNITY. APPROXIMATELY 50 HOUSING REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED AND TWO (2) HOUSES RECEIVED EXTENSIVE REHABILITIATION.
FOOD PANTRY: PROVIDED GROCERIES TO APPROXIMATELY 9,682 INDIVIDUALS, WHICH INCLUDED 232,510 POUNDS OF CANNED AND DRY GOODS, AND APPROXIMATELY 8,414 POUNDS OF FRESH PRODUCE GROWN AND HARVESTED FROM OUR COMMUNITY GARDEN, HELPING HANDS GARDEN OF H.O.P.E.
