SCHOLARSHIPS-CROWN SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS SELECTED BASED ON DEMONSTRATED FINANCIAL NEED AS WELL AS COMMUNITY SERVICE, ACADEMICS AND LEADERSHIP. THE NUMBER AND AMOUNT OF THESE SCHOLARSHIPS VARY EACH YEAR DEPENDING ON PROJECT FUNDING AND NUMBER OF APPLICANTS. THE TAMMY LASS SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED TO ONE RANKIN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WHO HAS SUFFERED THE LOSS OF A PARENT DUE TO AN ILLNESS OR ACCIDENT.
BOYS & GIRLS SCHOOL SUPPLIES (BAGSS)-SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTION DRIVES ARE HELD AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL PURCHASES OF REMAINING SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEEDED AND BOOKBAGS. THE BOOKBAGS ARE FILLED WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND DISTRIBUTED TO CHILDREN IDENTIFIED BY SCHOOL COUNSELORS WHOSE FAMILIES ARE STRUGGLING WITH THE COSTS. OVER 300 BOOK BAGS ARE DISTRIBUTED ANNUALLY TO ALL K-12 PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE RANKIN COUNTY SCHOOL DIST.
HELPING HANDS-PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO CHILDREN IDENTIFIED BY SCHOOL COUNSELORS IN NEED OF CLOTHING, SHOES AND LIMITED MEDICAL CARE SUCH AS EYE GLASSES. ALSO, ASSISTANCE IN THE FORM OF TEMPORARY LIVING COSTS, CLOTHING, FOOD, UTILITIES, ETC. IS PROVIDED TO FAMILIES WHO ARE EXPERIENCING LIFE CHALLENGES DUE TO JOB LOSS, FIRES, FLOODS, HEALTH PROBLEMS, ETC.
