THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AUXILIARY PROMOTES AND ADVANCES THE WELFARE OF THE HOSPITAL BY CONDUCTING AND SUPPORTING SERVICES FOR THE HOSPITAL, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THE AUXILIARY IS PRIMARILY FUNDED BY DONATIONS, PROCEEDS FROM THE HOSPITAL GIFT SHOP AND PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF MISCELLANEOUS MERCHANDISE. IN 2020-2021, THE AUXILIARY HAD 9,131 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER TIME. THE AUXILIARY PROVIDED 4,001 DAYS OF FREE OR DISCOUNTED LODGING FOR 299 FAMILIES, WHO OTHERWISE COULD NOT AFFORD TO STAY NEAR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, AT A COST TO THE AUXILIARY OF $75,000. THE AUXILIARY ALSO PROVIDED TOILETRIES AND BASIC NECESSITIES FOR FAMILIES, AS WELL AS SUPPORT FOR THE HOSPITAL'S INTENSIVE CARE WAITING ROOMS. THE AUXILIARY PROVIDED 3,400 MEAL TICKETS TO PATIENT FAMILIES AT A COST OF $17,000.
