WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT - WEST ALABAMA WORKS AIMS TO FACILITATE THE ESTABLISHMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE, COORDINATED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM FOR THE REGION THAT SUPPORTS ECONOMIC AND WORKFORCE TRAINING ACTIVITIES. A BUSINESS LED AND INDUSTRY DRIVEN PARTNERSHIP, WEST ALABAMA WORKS SERVES AS THE REGIONAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL. WEST ALABAMA WORKS AS THE REPRESENTING BODY OF ALABAMA'S REGION 3 WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL SERVES SEVEN COUNTIES THROUGHOUT WEST ALABAMA. REGION 3 COUNTIES INCLUDE BIBB, FAYETTE, GREENE, PICKENS, HALE, LAMAR AND TUSCALOOSA. REGION 3 IS ONE OF TEN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENMT COUNCILS IN THE STATE.
THE TUSCALOOSA COUNTY CIVIC HALL OF FAME WAS CREATED AS A GIFT TO THE COMMUNITY TO BE A PERMANENT WAY TO HONOR CITIZENS THAT HAVE PROVIDED THE VISION, LEADERSHIP AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS THAT HAVE BROUGHT THE COMMUNITY TO THE PROSPERITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE THAT WE EXPERIENCE TODAY. A FUND WAS ESTABLISHED TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN A PERMANENT STRUCTURE IN TUSCALOOSA'S GOVERNMENT PLAZA. THE MONUMENT BEARS THE NAMES OF ALL CIVIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES (PAST, PRESENT AND FURURE).
