BUILDING ON THE LEGACY OF EDUCATION SINCE 1912, BAPTIST MEMORIAL COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, INC., DBA BAPTIST HEALTH SCIENCES UNIVERSITY (BAPTIST UNIVERSITY), IS A PRIVATE INSTITUTION, WHICH SEEKS TO ATTRACT A DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATION WHO SHARES COMMITMENTS TO CHRISTIAN VALUES AND ETHICS, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, AND LIFELONG PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. IN RESPONSE TO THE TRUST EXPECTED OF INSTITUTIONS PREPARING FUTURE HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS, THE ACADEMICALLY RIGOROUS ENVIRONMENT REQUIRES STUDENTS' ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT IN LEARNING THROUGH A VARIETY OF INSTRUCTIONAL MODES. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BAPTIST MEMORIAL HEALTH CARE CORPORATION, BAPTIST UNIVERSITY EXTENDS THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT BEYOND THE CLASSROOM TO INCLUDE EXPERIENCES FOUND IN HEALTH CARE SETTINGS THROUGHOUT THE MID-SOUTH. THE ADMINISTRATION, FACULTY AND STAFF OF BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BELIEVE THAT THE UNIVERSITY HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO THE COMMUNITY BEYOND THAT OF PREPARING COMPETENT HEALTH CARE PRACTITIONERS. THAT RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDES SERVING AS A HEALTH CARE RESOURCE AND PROVIDING VOLUNTEER SERVICES IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. THE ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF STAFF AND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR INVOLVEMENT OF STUDENTS PROMOTES THE SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM. THIS CONTINUING COMMITMENT TO VOLUNTEERISM WILL AFFECT NOT ONLY THE PRACTICE OF GRADUATES BUT ALSO THEIR LIVES AS CITIZENS AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.BAPTIST UNIVERSITY WAS CHARTERED IN DECEMBER 1994 AS A SPECIALIZED UNIVERSITY OFFERING BACCALAUREATE DEGREES IN NURSING (BSN) AND HEALTH SCIENCES (BHS). BAPTIST UNIVERSITY IS ACCREDITED BY THE COMMISSION ON COLLEGES OF THE SOUTHERN ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS (SACSCOC) TO AWARD THE ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN PRE-HEALTH STUDIES, NEURODIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY, AND SURGICAL TECHNOLOGY, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING, AND THE BACHELOR OF HEALTH SCIENCES IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES, RESPIRATORY CARE, HEALTH ADMINISTRATION, POPULATION HEALTH, DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY, NEURODIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY, MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE, NUCLEAR MEDICINE, RADIATION THERAPY, AND MEDICAL RADIOGRAPHY. THE BACCALAUREATE NURSING PROGRAM IS APPROVED BY THE TENNESSEE BOARD OF NURSING AND IS ACCREDITED BY THE COMMISSION ON COLLEGIATE NURSING EDUCATION, THE ACCREDITATION BODY AFFILIATED WITH THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES OF NURSING. ALL ALLIED HEALTH MAJORS ARE ACCREDITED OR ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING ACCREDITATION BY THE APPROPRIATE NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. IN ADDITION, THE UNIVERSITY OFFERS A DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE (DNP) THAT IS ACCREDITED BY THE COMMISSION ON COLLEGIATE NURSING EDUCATION.BAPTIST UNIVERSITY ADMITS STUDENTS OF ANY RACE, COLOR, NATIONAL OR ETHNIC ORIGIN. IT DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE ON THE BASIS OF RACE, COLOR, NATIONAL OR ETHNIC ORIGIN IN ADMINISTRATION OF ITS EDUCATIONAL POLICIES, ADMISSION POLICIES, SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN PROGRAMS, AND ATHLETIC AND OTHER SCHOOL ADMINISTERED PROGRAMS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2021, BAPTIST UNIVERSITY ENROLLED 935 DIFFERENT STUDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS:- BACCALAUREATE/ASSOCIATE TRADITIONAL - 844- BACCALAUREATE COMPLETION - 44- SPECIAL STUDENTS - 1- DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENTS (NON-DEGREE SEEKING) - 21- DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE - 25IN FY2021, BAPTIST UNIVERSITY AWARDED A TOTAL OF 161 BACCALAUREATE DEGREES; 78 AS BACHELOR'S OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (BSN) AND 83 WERE BACHELOR'S OF HEALTH SCIENCES (BHS). THE NUMBERS BY MAJORS OF THE BHS DEGREES WERE 11 GRADUATES IN DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY, 3 IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES, 16 IN MEDICAL RADIOGRAPHY, 5 IN NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY, 4 IN RESPIRATORY CARE, 6 IN RADIATION THERAPY TECHNOLOGY, 22 IN HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT, 7 IN POPULATION HEALTH AND 9 IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES. ADDITIONALLY, THE UNIVERSITY AWARDED 1 ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN PRE-HEALTH STUDIES AND 12 ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREES IN NEURODIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY. IN THE FALL OF 2021, THE DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE PROGRAM ENROLLED 25 STUDENTS. AS OF SEPTEMBER 30, 2021, THE ENROLLMENT IN THE DOCTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE PROGRAM WAS 935. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BAPTIST UNIVERSITY OFFERS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS IN NEED. ASSISTANCE IS PROVIDED THROUGH A VARIETY OF SOURCES INCLUDING SCHOLARSHIPS, GRANTS, A WORK-STUDY PROGRAM, A LOAN PROGRAM, AND A TUITION DEFERRAL PROGRAM FUNDED BY BAPTIST MEMORIAL HEALTH CARE CORPORATION AND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY. ALL FINANCIAL AID IS AWARDED ON A NON-DISCRIMINATORY BASIS. SINCE JULY 2000, BAPTIST UNIVERSITY HAS ALSO PARTICIPATED IN FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS. INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS/ACADEMIC AWARDSIN FY2021, BAPTIST UNIVERSITY DISBURSED $1.6 MILLION IN INSTITUTIONAL FINANCIAL AID TO ENROLLED STUDENTS.
