THE GIVING SPIRIT'S MISSION IS TWOFOLD. FIRST TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE TANGIBLE HELP TO HOMELESS LIVES IN GREATER LOS ANGELES BY PROCURING FOR ASSEMBLING TOGETHER AND PERSONALLY GIVING OUT SURVIVAL KITS CONTAINING ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR LIVING INCLUDING FOOD HYDRATING DRINKS FRUIT TOILETRIES HYGIENE KITS PPE CLOTHING WEATHER PROTECTION AND MORE. OUR SECOND MISSION IS TO INFORM ENGAGE AND EDUCATE THROUGH VARIOUS PLATFORMS OUR VOLUNTEERS MEMBERS OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN GREATER LOS ANGELES AND BEYOND ABOUT THE HUMAN FACE OF HOMELESSNESS THE MYTHS AND REALITIES OF HOMELESSNESS AND THAT WORKABLE SOLUTIONS TO ALLEVIATE AND ULTIMATELY END HOMELESSNESS ARISE FROM COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT KNOWLEDGE RECOGNIZING THE DIGNITY OF ALL INDIVIDUALS AND OUR COMMON HUMANITY.

IN 2021 THE GIVING SPIRIT AGAIN ADAPTED ITS MODEL TO THE CHANGES BROUGHT ABOUT BY THE PANDEMIC. INSTEAD OF HOLDING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE EVENTS TO PRODUCE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND KITS UNDER ITS UMBRELLA OF HOMELESS OUTREACH PROGRAMS DUFFLE BAG AND BACKPACK HOMELESS OUTREACH WOMEN'S AND GIRLS INITIATIVE BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR LAUSD HOMELESS STUDENTS HOMELESS WITH COMPANION ANIMALS PROGRAM AND NEW MOTHER PROGRAM THE GIVING SPIRIT HELD SMALLER EVENTS WITH FEWER VOLUNTEERS FOLLOWING NATIONAL STATE AND LOCAL HEALTH GUIDELINES TO SERVE 9,325 HOMELESS LIVES IN 2021 WITH DISTRIBUTION SAFELY HANDLED THROUGH OUR AGENCY PARTNERS IN GREATER LOS ANGELES.
