THE ORGANIZATION'S CURRENT MISSION IS TO (1) REDUCE CHILD TRAFFICKING BY PROVIDING EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAMS THAT BUILD RESILIENCE AND EMPOWER CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES TO AVOID SEXUAL EXPLOITATION; AND (2) USE COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO INCREASE TRAFFICKING AWARENESS, REDUCE THE STIGMA OF TRAFFICKING, AND INCREASE VICTIM IDENTIFICATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERVENTION. USING A COMMUNITY-BASED APPROACH, THE ORGANIZATION WORKS WITH PRESCHOOLS, CHILDCARE FACILITIES, COMMUNITY PARTNERS, AND PARENTS TO HELP AT-RISK CHILDREN AND YOUTH BUILD PROTECTIVE FACTORS AND HELP THEM IDENTIFY AND UTILIZE HEALTHY SYSTEMS TO BECOME MORE RESILIENT AND AVOID VICTIMIZATION.

THE WELL'S ONE-TO-TWO YEAR RESIDENTIAL RECOVERY PROGRAM PROVIDES ALL HOUSING AND BASIC NECESSITIES UNTIL THE RESIDENT IS SELF-SUFFICIENT AND ECONOMICALLY INDEPENDENT. THE PROGRAM IS MANAGED BY AN IN-HOUSE CASE MANAGER WHO WORKS WITH EACH WOMAN TO DEVELOP INDIVIDUALIZED RECOVERY PLANS INCLUDING MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE, INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT DRUG/ALCOHOL REHABILITATION, ADDICTION RECOVERY SUPPORT, INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, LIFE SKILLS TRAINING, EDUCATION AND JOB TRAINING. THIS PROGRAM WAS DISCONTINED DURING 2023.


THE GOAL OF WELLSTART IS TO REDUCE THE VULNERABILITY TO SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFFICKING OF CHILDREN IN THE MOST VULNERABLE POPULATIONS; I.E. CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE, LOWER SOCIOECONOMIC CLASSES, AND CHILDREN OF COLOR. USING THE MINDUP AND NOT A NUMBER CURRICULUMS, THE ORGANIZATION CAN BUILD PROTECTIVE FACTORS INTO THE PROGRAMS SERVING CHILDREN AND YOUTH, AND HELP THEM IDENTIFY AND UTILIZE HEALTHY SYSTEMS TO DECREASE THEIR VULNERABILITIES.
