OPEN HAND KITCHEN -ST. VINCENT DE PAUL LOUISVILLE OPERATES A COMMUNITY KITCHEN THATPROVIDES NOURISHING MEALS FOR LUNCH AND DINNER AT NO CHARGE TO ANYONE IN NEED. THE OPEN HAND KITCHEN RELIES ON GENEROUS DONORS FOR FOOD AND ON VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE MEALS. AN AVERAGE OF OVER 10,115 MEALS WERE SERVED EVERY MONTH, 121,382 TOTAL DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2023.FOOD PANTRY -ST. VINCENT DE PAUL LOUISVILLE OPERATES A FOOD PANTRY THAT SERVES OUR CLIENTS AND RESIDENTS IN THE SURROUNDING ZIP CODE TWICE A WEEK. OUR VOLUNTEERS RUN A FOOD BANK THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE TO GET GROCERIES AT NO CHARGE. IN 2023, OUR FOOD PANTRY SERVED AN AVERAGE OF 605 HOUSEHOLDS EACH MONTH, 7,263 TOTAL. THIS HELPED PREVENT FOOD INSECURITY AMONG THE ELDERLY AND FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. THE FAMILY SUCCESS CENTER -OPERATED BY ST. VINCENT DE PAUL LOUISVILLE, THE FAMILY SUCCESS CENTER PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR AT-RISK CHILDREN WHO LIVE ON OUR CAMPUS AND IN THE SURROUNDING SMOKETOWN AND SHELBY PARK NEIGHBORHOODS. IN 2023, 25 CHILDREN REGISTERED FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING. OF THOSE, 85% MAINTAINED OR IMPROVED THEIR GRADES. THE 2023 SUMMER PROGRAM SERVED 26 CHILDREN.
