THE GENERAL NATURE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO FOSTER, PROMOTE AND INCREASE KNOWLEDGE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF CIVIC BEAUTIFICATION AND CONSERVATION IN AND AROUND FORT MYERS AND LEE COUNTY FLORIDA.

Part 3
THE COUNCIL PRESENTED PROGRAMS ON FLORAL DESIGN AND HORTICULTURE TO THE MEMBERSHIP. THEY DEMONSTRATED FLORAL DESIGN TO THE PUBLIC IN CONNECTION WITH THE EDISON-FORD WINTER ESTATES AT ART IN BLOOM. THE COUNCIL USED PUBLIC EVENTS TO ENCOURAGE MEMBERSHIP IN MEMBER CLUBS AND SOCIETIES. THE COUNCIL PROVIDED SUGGESTIONS FOR SPEAKERS AT LOCAL EVENTS THROUGH THEIR WEB SITE. THE BOTANICAL GARDEN IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC EACH WEEK DURING SEASON AS WELL AS AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATELY SCHEDULED TOURS.
SPONSORED A LOCAL CHILD TO ATTEND THE FLORIDA FEDERATED GARDEN CLUBS, INC. YOUTH NATURE CAMP AND FORD EDISON ESTATES SUMMER CAMP. AWARDED A $2,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO A DESERVING STUDENT AT FGCU. THE COUNCIL SUPPORTED THE LAKES PARK CHILDREN'S GARDEN AND HONORED A DECEASED BOARD MEMBER WITH A TRIBUTE TO BE DISPLAYED AT THE COUNCIL. ALSO SPONSORED A CHILF AT THE FORD EDISON ESTATES SUMMER CAMP.
WORK WAS COMPLETED ON 8/31/16 FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE HEADQUARTERS BUILDING TO MAKE IT MORE USEFUL FOR THE MEMBER CLUBS, PLANT SOCIETIES AND AFFILIATES.
