IS ORGANIZED FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRESERVING THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF MARCO ISLAND AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS, PROMOTING AND MAINTAINING AN AWARENESS OF OUR AREA'S HISTORY, AND ITS IMPORTANCE FOR ITS MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY. THE ORGANIZATION IS WORKING ON RESEARCH, ACQUISITION AND PRESERVATION OF THE MULTI-FACETED HISTORY OF THE MARCO ISLAND-GOODLAND REGION IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, THROUGH THE USE OF A CURATOR AND COLLECTION MANAGER AND THROUGH THE CURATION OF RELEVANT ARTIFACT LOANS FROM MUSEUMS AND ORGANIZATIONS. COLLECTIONS ARE SHARED WITH THE PUBLIC THROUGH THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INFORMATIVE MUSEUM EXHIBITS - BOTH PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY.
THE ORGANIZATION INFORMS THE COMMUNITY AND VISTORS TO THE AREA OF THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF THE MARCO ISLAND-GOODLAND REGION IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA USING A SERIES OF EDUCATION SPEAKERS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS, BY SPONSORING HISTORIC RE-ENACTMENTS AND BOOK/NEWSLETTER PUBLICATIONS, AND THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUTH ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS. THE ORGANIZATION MANAGES THE OPERATIONS OF ROSE HISTORY AUDITORIUM AS A VENUE FOR THESE EVENTS AND MAKES THE AUDITORIUM AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY FOR A MODEST RENTAL FEE.
