ESTABLISHED IN 1985, THE FLORIDA LITERACY COALITION PROMOTES, SUPPORTS AND ADVOCATES FOR THE EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF QUALITY ADULT AND FAMILY LITERACY SERVICES IN FLORIDA. AS A STATEWIDE UMBRELLA LITERACY ORGANIZATION AND THE HOST OF FLORIDA'S ADULT AND FAMILY LITERACY RESOURCE CENTER, FLC PROVIDES A RANGE OF SERVICES TO SUPPORT MORE THAN 250 ADULT EDUCATION, LITERACY AND FAMILY LITERACY PROVIDERS THROUGHOUT FLORIDA. SPECIAL EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON ASSISTING COMMUNITY BASED LITERACY ORGANIZATIONS WITH THEIR TRAINING AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT NEEDS.

THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND OTHER CORPORATE, GOVERNMENT, FOUNDATION AND INDIVIDUAL SUPPORTERS, THE FLORIDA LITERACY COALITION (FLC) OFFERS A RANGE OF SERVICES WHICH INCLUDE: THE FLORIDA LITERACY CONFERENCE, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING WORKSHOPS, RESOURCE SHARING, FLORIDA ADULT EDUCATION AND LITERACY HOTLINE REFERRAL SERVICE, PUBLICATION OF AN ADULT LITERACY BOOK, ONLINE ENGLISH CONVERSATION CLASSES, FLORIDA HEALTH LITERACY INITIATIVE AND FLORIDA FINANCIAL LITERACY INITIATIVE.
