PHYLLIS NEWBY, MISSIONARY TO HAITI: TRAINS AND SUPPORTS INDIGENT PASTORS AND TEACHERS; OVERSEES MORE THAN 280 CHURCHES WITH PRIMARY SCHOOLS; FEEDING PROGRAMS TO SCHOOL CHILDREN AND VILLAGES AS POSSIBLE; FOOD AND CLOTHING DISTRIBUTIONS; AND PROVIDES FOR TWO CHILDREN'S HOMES, ONE IN SAINTARD WITH 46 CHILDREN, AND THE OTHER IN PIGNON HOUSING 57 CHILDREN. PROVIDES EMERGENCY RELIEF TO THOSE SUFFERING FROM EARTHQUAKES AND/OR HURRICANES WITHIN HAITI AS NEEDED. AN ADDITIONAL PART OF THE MINISTRY IS TO FACILITATE GROUPS VISITING HAITI. VARIOUS WORK PROJECTS ENABLE VISITORS TO INTERACT WITH THE HAITIANS AND EACH ARE BLESSED AND ENCOURAGED. WHEN GROUPS VISIT, THEY OFTEN BRING NEEDED SUPPLIES AND FINANCES FOR THE MINISTRY WORK; THEY DO MEDICAL CLINICS, BUILDING PROJECTS, FOOD AND GIFT DISTRIBUTIONS, MISSION CENTER MAINTENANCE AND LOVINGLY ENCOURAGE THE HAITIAN PEOPLE. HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE VIOLENCE WITHIN HAITI SINCE 2019 AND COVID-19, THE MAJORITY OF GROUPS HAVE HAD TO DISCONTINUE VISITS.
HAITI MINISTRIES - EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FOR LES CAYES AREA. AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE STRUCK THE LES CAYES AREA ON AUGUST 14, 2021, AS FUNDS WERE PROVIDED THE MINISTRY TEAM THERE WAS ABLE TO SERVE OVER 400 FAMILIES WITH BASKETS WITH FOOD AND HYGIENE ITEMS; TWO FAMILIES RECEIVED NEW HOMES; 112 CHILDREN WERE PROVIDED FOOD AT TWO ORPHANAGES; 835 PRISONERS WERE PROVIDED FOOD AND 100 TARPS WERE DISTRIBUTED. CHRISTMAS FOR HAITI PROJECT RAISED FUNDS FOR RICE TO FEED COMMUNITIES. PURCHASED 800 - 55 LB. BAGS EQUALING 44,000 POUNDS AT A COST OF $16,000.
