TO PROVIDE FIRE PROTECTION AND RESCUE SERVICE IN THE BROAD RIVER DISTRICT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NC.

THE BROAD RIVER VOLUNTEER FIRE & RESCUE DEPARTMENT, INC. (BRVFD) PROVIDES FIRE, RESCUE, AND MEDICAL SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 3,000 RESIDENTS AND ALL THOSE WHO VISIT. IN ADDITION TO THE 90+ SQUARE MILES THAT WE COVER OUT OF TWO STATIONS WE ALSO RESPOND TO AN ADDITIONAL 20 SQUARE MILES LOCATED IN TWO OTHER COUNTIES. WE HAVE ONE FULL TIME CHIEF, ONE FULL TIME AND ONE PART TIME FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS. BRVFD ALSO HAS 30 DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS WHO RESPOND TO ALARMS WHEN AVAILABLE, AN EXTREMELY APPRECIATED AUXILIARY, AND AN AMAZING BOARD OF DIRECTORS WHO ARE ELECTED BY OUR RESIDENTS. OUR VOLUNTEERS GENERALLY AVERAGE OVER 3200 HOURS OF TRAINING EACH YEAR. THIS IS TIME THAT THEY ARE AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR PAYMENT IS PRIDE ALONG WITH THOSE WE SERVE GIVING THEM A THANK YOU. OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO FIND FEASIBLE WAYS TO SAVE LIVES AND PROPERTY THROUGH TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND MORE MODERN EQUIPMENT.
