THE INTERNATIONAL PALM SOCIETY CONTINUED TO SERVE ITS MEMBERS BY PUBLISHING "PALMS". THE QUARTERLY JOURNAL "PALMS" CONTAINS ORIGINAL ARTICLES CONCERNING PALMS; ETHNOBOTANY, TAXONOMY, HORICULTURE AND CONSERVATION. A SUPPLEMENT CONTAINS INFORMATION REGARDING ACTIVITIES OF THE VARIOUS CHAPTERS AND RELATED ORGANIZATIONS. IPS MAINTAINS A WEBSITE WITH SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION REGARDING PALMS, SPECIES DESCRIPTIONS, HORTICULTURAL REQUIREMENTS AND DISEASES. IPS ALSO SPONSORS ORIGINAL RESEARCH ABOUT PALMS. SPECIAL PROJECT AWARD GRANT FOR 2021 TO ROYAL BOTANIC GARDEN, KEW, IN ANTANANARIVO, MADAGASCAR WAS $5,900.
THE 2020 REUNION BIENNIAL TO BE HELD IN MADAGASCAR WAS AFFECTED BYCOVID 19 SHELTER IN PLACE AND TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS NECESSITATED CANCELLATION OF THE 2020 BIENNIAL SCHEDULED TO BE HELD IN MAY 2020. THE MADAGSCAR LODGING REFUND $62,425 RECEIVED NOVEMBER 12, 2020 FACILITATED REFUND II TO BIENNIAL PARTICIPAANTS TOTALLING $62,767 WHO PREPAID THE TRIP BEFORE THE COVID-19 SHUT-DOWN. REMAINING ARE SEVERAL CHECKS UNRECEIVED OR UNCASHED BY REFUNDED PARTICIPANTS THAT WILL BE CLEARED OR REISSUED IN 2022.
