TO PROTECT AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE TOWN OF PALM BEACH (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O) BY TAKING PROACTIVE STANDS ON CIVIL AFFAIRS; INFORMING, EDUCATING, AND ENGAGING RESIDENTS ON KEY TOWN ISSUES; WORKING WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT; AND ENCOURAGING CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY.

THE PALM BEACH CIVIC ASSOCIATION (PBCA) CELEBRATED ITS 80TH ANNIVERSARY FEATURING A SUCCESSFUL SEASON OF PROGRAMS AND FORUMS. DURING THE SEASON, THE PBCA HELD 3 SIGNATURE SERIES EVENTS WITH WELL KNOWN SPEAKERS. THE PBCA AWARD WINNING NEWS REACHED NEARLY 4,800 SUBSCRIBERS AND THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM WON THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE BERNAYS AWARD FOR "BEST NONPROFIT SMALL CAMPAIGN". THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM ALSO WORKED WITH THE HEALTH CARE COMMITTEE TO PRODUCE A 3-PART EDUCATIONAL VIDEO SERIES ON COGNITIVE HEALTH. THE PBCA ALSO EXCEEDED ITS MEMBERSHIP AND FUNDRAISING GOALS. THE PBCA HOSTED A WELCOME BACK COMMUNITY FORUM THAT EDUCATED ATTENDEES ON THE TOWN'S EFFORTS TO REFORM ITS ZONING CODE. THE ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE CO-SPONSORED ALONG WITH THE CITIZEN'S ASSOCIATION OF PALM BEACH, THE PRESERVATION FOUNDATION OF PALM BEACH, THE GARDEN CLUB OF PALM BEACH AND THE TOWN OF PALM BEACH A FORUM TITLED "WHERE HAVE ALL THE SONGBIRDS GONE: HIGHLIGHTING THE IMPACTS OF INSECTICIDE ON HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT." THE PBCA HOSTED THE ANNUAL CANDIDATES FORUM FEATURING A DEBATE BETWEEN THE TWO CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR TOWN COUNCIL. THE PBCA GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE FOLLOWING AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS: THE RAYMOND J. KUNKEL AWARD, THE WILLIAM J. "BILL" BROOKS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD, THE TOWN OF PALM BEACH EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR AWARD, AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO TWO CHILDREN OF TOWN OF PALM BEACH EMPLOYEES.
