THE COMMUNITY HEALTH GRANT PROGRAM AWARDS GRANTS TO GEORGIA BASED COMMUNITY PROJECTS AS IDENTIFIED AND SPONSORED BY GEORGIA ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIAN (GAFP) MEMBERS. THESE GRANTS ARE UTILIZED TO HELP COMMUNITIES WITH SOLUTIONS TO KEEP OUR GEORGIA CITIZENS HEALTHY.IN LIGHT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, AN IMMEDIATE/URGENT NEEDS GRANT PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO QUICKLY SUPPORT OUR MEMBER-IDENTIFIED NEEDS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
TAR WARS: BE TOBACCO AND VAPING FREE - THE ALLIANCE WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MEMBERS AND OTHER GROUPS SUCH AS GEORGIA'S SCHOOL NURSES TO PRESENT THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TAR WARS PROGRAM, A TOBACCO AND VAPING EDUCATION AND PREVENTION PROGRAM, OFFERED AT NO COST TO GEORGIA'S SCHOOLS AND YOUTH-RELATED GROUPS. THE FOCUS IS EDUCATION ON ANTI-TOBACCO AND VAPING MESSAGES AND PROVIDING INFORMATION TO OUR CHILDREN BEFORE THEY EXPERIMENT WITH UNHEALTHY TOBACCO OR VAPING PRODUCTS.
