THROUGH ADVOCACY, MEDICAL RESEARCH, SPORTS AND RECREATION, EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION. WHILE AIDING OUR VETERANS IN THIS MANNER, WE ARE ALSO AIDING THEIR FAMILIES AND NON-VETERAN DISABLED PERSONS LIVING IN THE STATES OF ALABAMA, GEORGIA, NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TENNESSEE.

THE PARALYZED VETERANS OF AMERICA, SOUTHEASTERN CHAPTER (PVASE) STRIVES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF VETERANS WHO HAVE SUFFERED FROM SPINAL CORD INJURY/ DISEASE, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, AND ALS (AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS, BETTER KNOWN AS LOU GEHRIG'S DISEASE)AND CARRY OUT THE PROGRAMS OUTLINED IN THE PARALYZED VETERANS OF AMERICA (PVA) ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDE. THE CHAPTER HOLDS GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS EITHER VIRTUALLY OR PHYSICALLY DURING OUR FISCAL YEAR IN HEPHZIBAH, GA, ATLANA, GA, DUBLIN, GA, COLUMBIA, SC, SALISBURY, NC, ASHEVILLE, NC, AND JOHNSON CITY, TN. THE CHAPTER SUPPLIES LUNCH AT EACH MEETING. THE MEMBERS ARE UPDATED AND INFORMED ON ANY ISSUES. WE HAVE A QUESTION AND ANSWER PERIOD DURING EACH MEETING. BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAVE A MEETING THE DAY BEFORE THE MEMBERSHIP MEETING IN HEPHZIBAH, GA. OUR SPORTS PROGRAMS ARE VERY EDUCATIONAL, INFORMATIVE, AND ENCOURAGING TO OUR MEMBERS. THEY (MEMBERS) ENGAGE IN HUNTING, TENNIS, FISHING, HANDCYCLING, GOLF, BILLIARDS, AND BOWLING AS WELL AS OTHER SPORTS NOT LISTED TO INCLUDE VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS VIRTUAL BINGO AND SPORTS TALK. CHAPTER WILL SEND A MINIMUM OF 30 MEMBERS FROM GA, SC, AND NC TO THE NATIONAL VETERANS WHEELCHAIR GAMES (NVWG). THE NVWG IS SPONSORED BY THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION (VA) AND PVA. THE CHAPTER CURRENTLY HAS ONLY ONE EMPLOYEE AND SHE IS A FULL-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT. THE CHAPTER CURRENTLY HAS VOLUNTEERS AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY TO MAINTAIN THE OFFICE, SERVE MEMBERS AT HOSPITALS, CARRY OUT MANDATED PROGRAMS, AS WELL AS THE OUTREACH MEETINGS MENTIONED ABOVE. THE CHAPTER NEWSLETTER, "THE SOUTHERN EDITION," CONTINUED TO PROVIDE VALUABLE, EDUCATIONAL, PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR OUR MEMBERS. IT IS PUBLISHED A MINIMUM OF FOUR TIMES A YEAR. THE SOUTHERN EDITION SOMETIMES WILL HAVE AN ARTICLE SPOTLIGHTING ONE OF OUR MEMBERS AND HOW PVA HAS INFLUENCED OR WHAT INFLUENCE PVA HAS HAD ON THEIR LIFE. GOVERNMENT RELATIONS PROGRAM: NATIONAL PVA & PVASE THROUGH THIS PROGRAM WORK HARD TO MAKE SURE THROUGH ADVOCACY AND LEGISLATIONS THAT OUR MEMBERS AND DISABLED COMMUNITY ARE CONTINUING TO GET THE BEST CARE, WHETHER IT IS MEDICAL OR BARRIERS. SOUTHEAST REGIONAL WHEELCHAIR GAMES ARE AT CLEMSON UNIVERSITY. ROCK HILL RECREATION FOUNDATION SUPPORTING THE ROCK & ROLL WHEELCHAIR TENNIS CLASSIC IN ROCK HILL, SC. WALTON FOUNDATION FOR INDEPENDENCE SUPPORTING THE WALTON FOUNDATION WHEELCHAIR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP IN AUGUSTA, GA. RICHLAND COUNTY RECREATION FOUNDATION SUPPORTING THEIR ADAPTED RECREATION PROGRAM WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL IN COLUMBIA, SC. WE SPONSOR TWO NEW ADAPTIVE SPORTS TEAMS; WHEELCHAIR SOFTBALL "RIP SQUAD- AND WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TEAM "ROLLING REBELS" FOR OUR MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE TO BUILD TEAMWORK AND LEADERSHIP.
