THE MISSION OF EAST TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGY ACCESS CENTER IS TO CONNECT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN EAST TENNESSEE TO THE ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY TOOLS AND SERVICES THEY NEED TO LIVE WITH MAXIMUM INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY.

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO CLIENTS WITH DISABILITIES DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR, INCLUDING EVALUATION OF NEED FOR ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY, TRAINING ON EQUIPMENT, TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND EQUIPMENT REPAIR, LOAN OF EQUIPMENT, WORKSITE AND CLASSROOM ACCOMODATIONS, AND LITERACY TRAINING AND SUPPORT. TRAININGS, WORKSHOPS, AND PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONS WERE ALSO PROVIDED TO VR COUNSELORS AND SUPERVISORS DURING THE YEAR, INCLUDING OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN ABOUT NEW ADAPTIVE DEVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM FOCUSES ON INCREASING AWARENESS OF ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY DEVICES IN VARIOUS COMMUNITIES AND GROUPS IN EAST TENNESSEE. SERVICES INCLUDED PRESENTATIONS TO AND PARTICIPATION IN SUPPORT MEETINGS, CAREER FAIRS, PARENT FAIRS, SENIOR EXPOS AND EVENTS AT ETTAC AND THROUGHOUT EAST TENNESSEE, INCREASED USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND ETTACS WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK TO REACH PEOPLE, AN E-NEWSLETTER, AND INFORMATION SENT VIA RADIO, TN AND AREA NEWSPAPERS, AND INFORMATION ON ETTACS WEBSITE.
COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE - SPARK RECEIVES DONATIONS AND DISTRIBUTES MEDICAL AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY DEVICES TO PERSONS OF NEED IN THE GREATER EAST TENNESSEE AREA. TN TALK IS A STATEWIDE PROGRAM THROUGH TN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION THAT PROVIDES FREE TRAINING FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS ON AUGMENTATIVE COMMUNICATION.
