DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAMS - IMPACTED BY MULTIPLE DISASTERS, INCLUDING COVID-19, EASTER TORNADOES AND MULTIPLE DEVASTATING HURRICANES, INCLUDING LAURA, DELTA AND ZETA, HSLA OVERCAME MANY DIFFICULTIES TO PROVIDE RELIEF TO LOUISIANA'S ANIMALS. COORDINATED 12 COVID-19 RELIEF PET FOOD DISTRIBUTION DAYS IN THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS AREA; DELIVERED PET FOOD TO SCORES OF HOMEBOUND ANIMAL CAREGIVERS AND RESCUERS; SAVED 1,555 HOMELESS, HURRICANE-IMPACTED PETS BY EVACUATING THEM TO OUR NORTHERN ADOPTION PARTNERS; SUCCESSFULLY SOLICITED,STORED AND DISTRIBUTED MORE THAN A MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF PET FOOD, SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT, SUPPORTED BY MORE THAN TWO DOZEN CORPORATE DONORS AND PRIVATE FUNDERS. HELD 22 PET FOOD AND SUPPLY GIVEAWAY EVENTS IN MULTIPLE PARISHES, INCLUDING ACADIA, ASCENSION, BEAUREGARD, CALCASIEU, CAMERON, CONCORDIA, EVANGELINE, ORLEANS, JEFFERSON, JEFFERSON DAVIS, POINTE COUPEE AND WASHINGTON. DISTRIBUTED FOOD, SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT TO 57 SHELTERS, RESCUES AND WILDLIFE REHABBERS AND MORE THAN 3,500 PET OWNERS AND RESCUE AGENCIES IMPACTING COUNTLESS THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS. PROVIDED IN HOME PET FOOD DELIVERY, VET CARE OR OTHER AID TO MORE THAN 150 HURRICANE-IMPACTED FAMILIES WITH PETS.


DIRECT AID TO ANIMALS & CAREGIVERS - SAVED ANIMALS BY SUPPORTING SHELTERS, RESCUERS AND WILDLIFE REHABILITATORS, FOCUSING ON RURAL AREAS AND COMMUNITIES WITHOUT SERVICES. TOOK IN 3,827 ANIMALS FROM OVERCROWDED SHELTERS TO REDUCE EUTHANASIA, 1,783 ANIMALS SURRENDERED BY OWNERS, AND 551 ANIMALS WHO WERE STRAY OR AT LARGE. TRANSPORTED 5,724 CATS AND DOGS TO OUR NO-KILL ADOPTION PARTNERS, INCLUDING 1,555 HOMELESS ANIMALS EVACUATED FROM LOUISIANA SHELTERS AND RESCUES DURING HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS. OPERATED NO AND LOW COST SPAY NEUTER PROGRAMS, RESULTING IN MORE THAN 452 DOGS AND 755 CATS ALTERED. DISTRIBUTED ANIMAL FOOD AND/OR SUPPLIES TO 57 SHELTERS, RESCUERS AND REHABBERS. OPERATED 3 FACILITIES AND 20 FOSTER HOMES, PROVIDING DAILY FOOD, CARE AND HOUSING FOR AN AVERAGE OF 145 ANIMALS AND 125 COMMUNITY CATS DAILY. SAVED 20 MARDI GRAS HORSES FROM POTENTIAL SLAUGHTER AND PROVIDED VET CARE OR OTHER DIRECT AID TO MORE THAN 175 ADDITIONAL ANIMALS. HOSTED 10 ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP DAYS TO AID WILDLIFE AND OPERATED MERRY WOOD REFUGE, A 200 ACRE FOREST HOME TO COUNTLESS WILD CREATURES.


CRUELTY INVESTIGATION AND PREVENTION - RESPONDED TO MORE THAN 3,500 COMPLAINTS OF CRUELTY, NEGLECT AND ABANDONMENT INVOLVING MORE THAN 7,000 ANIMALS, PRIMARILY IN COMMUNITIES WITHOUT SERVICES. RESOLVED CASES THROUGH AGENCY PARTNERSHIPS, FIELD INVESTIGATIONS, OWNER EDUCATION AND AID TO LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE FORM OF PERSONNEL SUPPORT, PAYMENT OF VET BILLS, BOARDING, ETC. PARTNERED WITH ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN 24 PARISHES AND ACCEPTED CUSTODY OF 162 ANIMALS (108 DOGS, 42 CATS, 3 HORSES 8 OTHER) SEIZED IN CRUELTY CASES OR SURRENDERED BY OWNERS UNDER ACTIVE INVESTIGATION; ANIMALS IN OUR CARE WERE VETTED, REHABILITATED, ADOPTED AND/OR TRANSFERRED TO PARTNERS FOR ADOPTION. PROVIDED DIRECT AID AND/OR VET CARE FOR ADDITIONAL 92 ABUSED/NEGLECTED ANIMALS IN THE CUSTODY OF OTHER AGENCIES. 10 VOLUNTEER CASE MANAGERS AND PRO BONO ATTORNEYS HELPED FACILITATE CASES THROUGH THE SYSTEM; OFFERED REWARDS RESULTING IN THE SAFE RECOVERY OF 2 ANIMALS; OPERATED CAMPAIGNS TO IMPROVE THE TREATMENT OF ABUSED AND NEGLECTED ANIMALS; INCREASED PUBLIC AWARENESS OF HUMANE ISSUES WITH SCORES OF EVENTS, MEDIA APPEARANCES AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS; RESPONDED TO HUNDREDS OF REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION FROM MULTIPLE AGENCIES, AS THE RECOGNIZED STATE LEADER IN THIS FIELD.
