THE CONESTEE FOUNDATION SHALL PROVIDE FOR THE CONSERVATION AND STEWARDSHIP OF LAKE CONESTEE NATURE PARK, SUSTAINING AN EXCEPTIONAL, WILD, GREENSPACE ASSET THAT ADDS VALUE TO THE GREATER GREENVILLE COMMUNITY THROUGH RECREATIONAL TRAILS, A VENUE FOR NATURE EDUCATION, A SANCTUARY FOR WILDLIFE, AND A REFUGE FOR ALL WHO ENJOY AND ARE INSPIRED BY THE NATURAL WORLD.

THE FOUNDATION OWNS AND OPERATES THE LAKE CONESTEE NATURE PARK IN GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC, PROVIDING PUBLIC ACCESS 365 DAYS PER YEAR, PROTECTING WILDLIFE BY IMPROVING HABITAT AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO STUDENTS AT PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS, ONCE A MONTH SATURDAY PROGRAMS ON FLORA AND FAUNA, HOSTING ADULT MASTER NATURALISTS, AND WEEK-LONG SUMMER CAMPS. THE FOUNDATION LEASES LAKE CONESTEE NATURE PARK TO GREENVILLE COUNTY PARKS RECREATION AND TOURISM TO INCLUDE IN THE COUNTY'S PORTFOLIO OF PARKS. THE COUNTY SHARES RESPONSIBILITY WITH THE FOUNDATION TO MAINTAIN THE PARK INFRASTRUCTURE. THE FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO ASSIST WITH BUILDING ADDITIONAL FEATURES AND REPAIRING AND MAINTAINING THE INFRASTRUCTURE. THE NATURE PARK IS A PUBLIC GREENSPACE AND RECREATION DESTINATION USED TO OPERATE A VIBRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM. GENERAL PUBLIC USE OF THE NATURE PRESERVE REMAINED HIGH, SUSTAINING THE INCREASED USAGE WE SAW DURING THE HEALTH CRISIS. PARTICIPATION IN OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM DURING 2021 WAS AGAIN REDUCED, BASED ON THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT'S DECISION NOT TO TAKE FIELD TRIPS. NONETHELESS, PRIVATE SCHOOL AND HOME SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS WERE COMMON, AND OUR EDUCATIONAL OFFEREINGS OUTSIDE OF THE NORMAL SCHOOL DAY WERE WELL ATTENDED.
