THE FOUNDATION HOLDS ENDOWMENT FUNDS THAT ARE DEDICATED TO THE SUPPORT OF STUDENTS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND ARE ATTENDING VARIOUS COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. APPLICATIONS ARE SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF DEACONS OF FIRST PRESBYTERIAN WHO RECOMMEND THE RECIPIENTS OF THE AVAILABLE FUNDS. IN THE YEAR 2021, $33,395 WAS ALLOCATED TO THE 24 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS WHO WERE ABLE TO USE THE FUNDS TO HELP ATTEND THE SCHOOLS OF THEIR CHOICE. TEN DIFFERENT SCHOOLS RECEIVED CHECKS ON BEHALF OF THESE STUDENTS TO OFFSET A PORTION OF THEIR TUITION AND FEES.
GIFTS TO 4 DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE GREENVILLE AREA THAT SUPPORT ELEMENTARY TO HIGH SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN WITH MINISTRIES OF VARIOUS TYPES. THE ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDED IN THESE GRANTS ARE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN ACADEMY AT SHANNON FOREST, NEIGHBORHOOD FOCUS, POE MILL ACHIEVEMENT CENTER (PMAC) AND THE CHRISTIAN LEARNING CENTER OF GREENVILLE. IN 2021 THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN FOUNDATION GAVE THESE 4 ORGANIZATIONS GRANTS WORTH $100,047 TO SUPPORT THEIR MISSION. WHILE EACH ORGANIZATION IS DIFFERENT, THEY ALL SEEK TO IMPACT THE LIVES OF THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAMS MOST OF WHICH ARE FAITH BASED THAT PROVIDE SUCH THINGS AS SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT, CHARACTER EDUCATION AND LIFE SKILLS AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT. THESE ORGANIZATIONS EITHER SERVE STUDENTS BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER SCHOOL AND ALL THE PROGRAMS FOR WHICH THEY SOUGHT GRANTS ARE OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE TO THE STUDENTS. THESE ORGANIZATIONS ARE LOCATED IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY WITH THE ACADEMY BEING LOCATED ON GARLINGTON ROAD, NEIGHBORHOOD FOCUS IS ON WHITE HORSE ROAD, PMAC IS OM BUNCOMBE ROAD AND CLC OF GREENVILLE MEETS IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS NEAR MOST OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN GREENVILLE COUNTY.THE GRANT FOR FPC ACADEMY WAS SOUGHT TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE CONTINUED OFFERING AND STRENGTHENING OF DISCOVER GROUPS FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO ATTEND THE ACADEMY. THE GROUPS ARE TO BE LED BY A MENTOR AND TO PROVIDE A PLACE FOR FLEDGLING CHRISTIAN STUDENTS TO TALK ABOUT THEIR WALK AND RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD WITH MENTORS AND ALSO DEVELOP RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEERS THAT WILL POSITIVELY IMPACT THEIR WALK WITH THE LORD. THE GROUPS PLAN TO MEET TWICE PER MONTH. THE GRANT WILL PROVIDE FUNDING FOR A TEACHER LEADER STIPEND TO PAY FOR THEIR TIME IN CREATING LESSONS, TRAINING, AND MONITORING. THE BALANCE OF THE FUNDS WILL PROVIDE FOR NOTEBOOKS, PAPER, AND SUPPLIES FOR TEACHER TRAINING. THE PROJECTED BUDGET FOR THE PROGRAM IS $20,000 ANNUALLY.NEIGHBORHOOD FOCUS (NF) PROVIDES FREE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS TO PRIMARILY HISPANIC AND MINORITY STUDENTS LIVING IN THE WHITE HORSE ROAD CORRIDOR. THE PROGRAM USES PAID STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, CHARACTER EDUCATION AND LIFE SKILLS FOR THESE CHILDREN MOST OF WHICH ARE UNDER-RESOURCED AND MAY STRUGGLE WITH LANGUAGE DIFFICULTIES. NF ALSO OFFERS A SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM SIMILAR TO A DAY CAMP FOR THESE STUDENTS WHO ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL AGE ARE.PMAC IS AN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM WHERE STUDENTS ENGAGE IN ACADEMICS, PHYSICAL FITNESS, GAMES, ART, DANCE, MUSIC, AND CHARACTER-BUILDING ACTIVITIES. THEY ARE PROVIDED A SNACK AND SUPPER AT THE END OF EACH DAY. THEY ALSO OPERATE A SUMMER DAY CAMP FOR CHILDREN. THEY HAVE 40 CHILDREN THEY FROM THE POE MILL AREA THAT THEY MINISTER TO EACH DAY.CLC GREENVILLE PROVIDES BIBLICAL INSTRUCTION TO MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH RELEASE TIME CHRISTIAN EDUCATION. THEY WILL PICK UP STUDENTS AT THEIR SCHOOL AND THEN BUS THEM TO A LOCAL CHURCH OR FACILITY WHERE THEY ARE TAUGHT FOR THE TIME ALLOTTED AND THEN RETURNED TO THEIR SCHOOL. THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT'S CLASSES CAN COUNT TOWARDS THEIR ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION. THEIR GOAL IS TO BRING THESE STUDENTS TO A POINT OF MAKING A DECISION TO ACCEPT CHRIST AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOR.IN ADDITION TO THE GRANTS AND GIFTS GIVEN TO THESE FOUR ORGANIZATIONS THE FOUNDATION ALSO GAVE A $4,000 YOUTH MUSIC GRANT TO FPC IN SUPPORT OF MUSIC PROGRAMS OFFERED TO THE CHILDREN AND YOUTH OF FPC. AS WELL AS A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,547.18 TO THE STUDENT MINISTRY PROGRAM OF THE CHURCH TO BE USED IN SUPPORT OF THE JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH MINISTRIES OF THE CHURCH. ALL TOLD THESE GRANTS TOTAL $100,047.18 IN FUNDS GIVEN TO SUPPORT CHILDREN AND STUDENTS IN THE GREENVILLE COUNTY AREA AND FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
IN 2021, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED GRANTS AND GIFTS FOR A NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS AND MINISTRIES. THESE INCLUDED A GRANT TO THE EASTERN DOMINICAN CHRISTIAN MISSION IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,600 TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THE PASTOR OF THE CHURCH THAT WAS FOUNDED IN AN AREA WHERE FPC HAS SENT TEAMS ON MISSION TRIPS FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. IN PRIOR YEARS THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED GRANTS FOR ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY FOR THE CHURCH WE HELPED PLANT AS WELL AS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH A MICRO-LENDING PROGRAM IN THE COMMUNITY WHICH WE FUNDED.GRANT TO CHRIST'S COLLEGE/MISSION TO THE WORLD'S RENOVATION PROJECT FOR MISSIONS TRAINING CENTER IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,600. THESE FUNDS WERE GIVEN TO ASSIST IN THE RESTORATION OF MORRIS HALL ON THE CAMPUS OF CHRIST'S COLLEGE IN TAIPEI. THIS BUILDING HAS FALLEN INTO DISREPAIR AND IS BEING RENOVATED TO BE USED TO HOUSE MISSIONARY'S FAMILIES WHILE THEY ARE IN TRAINING. THE INVESTMENT IN THIS PROJECT WILL ALLOW FOR THE TRAINING OF MISSIONARIES IN TAIWAN THAT CAN THEN BE SENT ALL THROUGHOUT ASIA TO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST. THIS PROJECT IS PART OF A MISSION TO THE WORLD'S RESTRUCTURING OF ITS MISSIONARY TRAINING PROGRAM IN ORDER TO CREATE TRAINING CENTERS ALL AROUND THE WORLD.AWARD FOR THE OUTREACH FOUNDATION FOR THE EGYPTIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY IN CAIRO EGYPT IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,500. THESE FUNDS WERE TO BE USED TO HELP FUND THE SEMINARY'S CHAIR OF EVANGELISM WHICH IS BEING NAMED AFTER ONE OF THEIR MOST DISTINGUISHED GRADUATES REV. DR. MENIS ABDEL NOUR. REV. DR. NOUR WAS A GIFTED PREACHER AND EVANGELIST WHOSE LIFE PURPOSE WAS TO LIVE FOR CHRIST AND BRING OTHERS TO HIM. THIS POSITION IS BEING CREATED TO PROVIDE A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FOR THE TEACHING AND TRAINING OF YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN FOR THE MINISTRY OF BRINGING PEOPLE TO THE LORD. IT WILL HELP ATTRACT FACULTY WHICH WILL FULFILL THE SUSTAINABILITY AND STRATEGIC VISION OF THE SEMINARY.TWO GIFTS WERE GIVEN TO THE OUTREACH FOUNDATION, A 501C3 THAT WORKS WITH A NUMBER OF PRESBYTERIAN DENOMINATIONS TO DO MISSION WORK IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE WORLD. THE GRANTS TOTALED $5,000 EACH AND WERE TO BE USED AT OUTREACH FOUNDATION'S BOARD'S DISCRETION BASED UPON WHERE THEY FELT THEY WOULD BE THE MOST IMPACTFUL. FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH HAS A LONG HISTORY OF WORKING WITH AND SUPPORTING THE WORK OF THE OUTREACH FOUNDATION.
