THE BCO BENEVOLENCE FUND, INC. WAS FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING EMERGENCY HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE TO THE BUSINESS CAPACITY OWNERS (BCOS) UNDER CONTRACT TO LANDSTAR SYSTEM, INC. AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND THE IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS OF THOSE BCOS. BCOS ARE NOT EMPLOYEES OF THE LANDSTAR SYSTEM, RATHER THEY ARE SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AND INDEPENDENT OWNER OPERATORS OF SALES FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT SERVING LANDSTAR. THE FUND IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE SUCH EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS IN NEED. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE GRANTS WOULD BE MADE FOR FOOD, CLOTHING, HOUSING, REPAIRS, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, FUNERAL EXPENSES, AND OTHER GOODS AND SERVICES TYPICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH AN UNFORESEEN EVENT OR CIRCUMSTANCE SUCH AS A HURRICANE, FIRE, DEATH, MEDICAL ILLNESS OR ACCIDENT.
