THE MISSION OF GO GLOBAL NC IS CONNECTING NORTH CAROLINA AND THE WORLD THROUGH PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF POLICY LEADERS, EDUCATORS, STUDENTS, AND BUSINESS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS TO ENABLE NORTH CAROLINA TO SUCEED IN A GLOBAL ECONOMY AND INCREASINGLY INTERDEPENDENT WORLD.

CHINA PROGRAMS: THE COUNCIL SUPPORTED THE WORK OF THE CHINA PROGRAMS. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAMS INCLUDE: SUPPORTING MANDARIN CHINESE LANGUAGE PROGRAMS IN 34 SCHOOLS IN NORTH CAROLINA, RESULTING IN APPROXIMATELY 8,490 STUDENTS LEARNING CHINESE DURING THE 2020-21 ACADEMIC YEAR; OFFERING VIRTUAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS TO CHINESE LANGUAGE TEACHERS IN NORTH CAROLINA; SUPPORTING THE PERSONAL AND PROFESSION ACCLIMATION OF 12 GUEST TEACHERS TO NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH WORKSHOPS, CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS AND FEEDBACK; AND OFFERING YCT/HSK PROFICIENCY TESTING TO STUDENTS TAKING MANDARIN CHINESE
GLOBAL TEACHERS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR EDUCATORS. 166 EDUCATORS PARTICIPATED IN NEARLY 200 HOURS OF VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING INCLUDING: PROGRAMMING THAT CONNECTED TEACHERS WITH PRESENTERS AND COUNTERPARTS IN AUSTRALIA AND ZIMBABWE AS WELL AS PROGRAMMING DESIGNED FOR THE GLOBAL TEACHER COMMUNITY ON INCORPORATING GLOBAL EDUCATION INTO THE CURRICULUM. ADDITIONALLY, 83 TEACHERS PARTICIPATED IN THE GLOBAL TEACHERS AUSTRALIA AND GLOBAL TEACHERS VICTORIA FALLS REGION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN THE SUMMER OF 2022. THESE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO BUILD THE CONFIDENCE AND COMPETENCE OF K-12 EDUCATORS TO TEACH ABOUT THE WORLD NO MATTER THE GRADE LEVEL OR SUBJECT AREA THAT THEY TEACH.
LATINO INITIATIVE: THE LATINO INITIATIVE HELPS NORTH CAROLINA COMMUNITIES DEVELOP THE SKILLS, UNDERSTANDING, RELATIONSHIPS, AND STRATEGIES TO POSITIVELY INTEGRATE THE LATINO COMMUNITY INTO THE FABRIC OF THEIR COMMUNITIES. GO GLOBAL NC WORKED WITH MORE THAN 65 GOVERNMENT, EDUCATION, BUSINESS, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS IN DUPLIN, SAMPSON, WAYNE, AND LENOIR/JONES/GREENE COUNTIES TO BRIDGET THE GAPS FOR LATINOS MOVING FROM K-12 TO HIGHER EDUCATION TO EMPLOYMENT INCLUDING STRATEGIES FOR RECRUITEMENT AND RETENTION, TO STRENGTHEN THE TALENT PIPELINE. THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN SPETEMBER 2021 AND WILL FINISH IN 2022-23.
