FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD HELPS FAMILIES IN THE CRISIS OF HOMELESSNESS FIND THEIR WAY HOME. WE PROVIDE TEMPORARY HOUSING, CASE MANAGEMENT, SKILLS EDUCATION, AND CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO HELP PARENTS AND CHILDREN THRIVE IN STABLE HOMES.

EMERGENCY SHELTER PROGRAM: WE RECOMMEND CHANGING TO 65 FAMILIES (@17 FAMILIES SERVED AT A TIME, DUE TO COVID) 3Q. WE HAVE HAD ONGOING CONSULTATION WITH PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICIALS AND WITH SPECIAL FILTRATION, BLEACH TABS FOR TOILETS AND A SHOWER CURTAIN BARRIER BETWEEN THE SINK AND COMMODE, WE ANTICIPATE REACHING FULL SHELTER CAPACITY EARLY 4TH QUARTER. 4Q. 16 FAMILIES ENTERED SHELTER THIS QUARTER. WE CONTINUED TO SEE FAMILIES DECLINE SHELTER DUE TO CONCERNS ABOUT SAFETY DURING COVID-19 ESPECIALLY WHEN A HOUSEHOLD MEMBER IS CONSIDERED A HIGHER RISK FOR COMPLICATIONS.
AFTERCARE PROGRAM: BRANCHING OUT ENCOMPASSES THE SECOND PHASE OF SUPPORT WE PROVIDE AFTER GUESTS MOVE INTO THEIR OWN HOMES. WE DELIVER SERVICES FOR UP TO 12 MONTHS AFTER OUR FAMILIES EXIT OUR EMERGENCY SHELTER PROGRAM, MAKING US BETTER ABLE TO ENSURE OUR GUESTS LONG-TERM STABILITY AND PREVENT RETURNS TO HOMELESSNESS. FAMILIES MOVING FORWARD OFFERS A PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT NETWORK INCLUDING HIGHLY TRAINED STAFF AND STRONG COMMUNITY PARTNERS. CASE MANAGERS DEVELOP CUSTOMIZED ACTION PLANS FOR EACH FAMILY AND MAINTAIN ONGOING SUPPORT IN PERSON AND BY PHONE. THROUGH OUR NETWORK OF COMMITTED STAFF, PARTNERS, AND VOLUNTEERS, INCLUDING VOLUNTEER-DRIVEN CIRCLES OF SUPPORT, WE HELP TO EMPOWER FAMILIES WITH THE LIFE SKILLS AND TOOLS THEY NEED TO BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT. SELF-SUFFICIENCY IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL FOR OUR FAMILIES. OUR BRANCHING OUT AFTERCARE PROGRAM HELPS MAKE THAT GOAL A REALITY. IN 2020, FMF SERVED 59 FAMILIES THROUGH BRANCHING OUT.
