ADVENTURES IN LEARNING - OUR LIFELONG LEARNING AND ENRICHMENT CLASSES MET DURING THE YEAR, WITH SIGNATURE PROGRAMMING TAUGHT BY VOLUNTEERS. THE STEERING COMMITTEE SELECTED DIFFERENT CLASSES, ALL TAUGHT BY VOLUNTEERS. FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH AND CHRIST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH DONATED SPACE FOR OLDER ADULTS TO ATTEND WORKSHOPS, VOLUNTEERS GIVE HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF SERVICE TO MAKE THIS A UNIQUE, PRIMARY PROGRAM OF SCG.
SHEPNET COMPUTER AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER - THIS UNIQUE PROGRAM PROVIDES TECHNOLOGY TRAINING DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR OLDER ADULTS, TAUGHT BY RETIREES, TO KEEP THEM UP-TO-DATE ON COMPUTER SKILLS, SMART PHONES, TABLETS AND SPECIAL SOFTWARE. THE TWO CLASSROOMS ARE LOCATED AT STARMOUNT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WHERE VOLUNTEERS MANAGE THE LEARNING LABS. THIS YEAR TOPICS INCLUDED WINDOWS 10, IPHONE AND IPAD USAGE, GOOGLE PHOTO, AND NEW SHORT SESSIONS ON CLOUD COMPUTING/STORAGE, SECURITY AND FILE MANAGEMENT.
SHEPHERD'S TRAVELERS - OLDER ADULTS PARTICIPATED IN SENIOR TRAVELS. ALL TRIPS ARE INCLUSIVE, DESIGNED FOR OLDER ADULTS BY A VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE, AND PROVIDE BOTH RECREATION AND GROUP SOCIALIZATION ACTIVITIES.
