TO SERVE, EMPOWER AND MINISTER TO CLIENTS IN ORDER TO PREVENT AND END HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, HOUSING AND COORDINATION OF SERVICES.

Part 3 - Line 4a

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: ARTHUR CASSELL MEMORIAL TRANSITIONAL HOUSE PROGRAM AT OPEN DOOR MINISTRIES IS A TRANSITIONAL LIVING FACILITY FOR HOMELESS MEN WHO HAVE A DESIRE TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN THE HIGH POINT COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM WHICH IMPLEMENTS THE DISEASE MODEL OFADDICTION TO ASSIST RESIDENTS AFFECT CHANGE. THIS IS A COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL SPIRITUAL APPROACH HELPS RESIDENTS THROUGH THE STAGES OF TRANSITION FROM BEING HOMELESS AND JOBLESS TO OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT AND PERMANENT HOUSING AND A SENSE OF GENERAL WELL BEING.


OTHER SERVICES PROVIDED ARE ALL DESIGNED TO PREVENT AND END HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATOIN, HOUSING AND COORDINATION OF SERVICES.


SHELTER: THE MEN'S SHELTER PROGRAM AT OPEN DOOR MINISTRIES IS A FACILITY DESIGNED TO HOUSE ADULT HOMELESS MEN ON A TEMPORARY BASIS. FIRST PREFERENCE IS GIVEN TO THE HIGH POINT RESIDENT FOLLOWED BY THE GUILFORD COUNTY RESIDENT. CLIENTS GO AN ENTRANCE SCREENING BEFORE BEINGACCEPTED TO THE FACILITY. THEY MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE AND CANNOT BE A SEX OFFENDER. THE SHELTER OFFERS 66 BEDS FOR THE GENERAL POPULATIONS, AND TEN BEDS FOR TREATMENT PROGRAM AND SIX BEDS IN THE OVERFLOW DORMITORY. ADDITIONAL MATTRESSES ARE SET UP IN THE COLD MONTHS TO HANDLE THE OVERFLOW.


RAPID REHOUSING: THE RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM AT OPEN DOOR MINISTRIES RAPIDLY CONNECTS PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO PERMANENT HOUSING THROUGH A TAILORED PACKAGE OF ASSISTANCE THAT MAY INCLUDE TIME-LIMITED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND TARGETED SUPPORTIVE SERVICES. IT HELPS SOLVE THE PRACTICAL AND IMMEDIATE CHALLENGES TO OBTAINING HOUSING WHILE REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF TIME ONE EXPERIENCES HOMELESSNESS.
