MEALS ON WHEELS - HELP FOR OUR HOMEBOUND THE MISSION OF MEALS ON WHEELS OF ASHEVILLE-BUNCOMBE COUNTY IS TO PROVIDE HOT, NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO THE ELDERLY HOMEBOUND, THUS ALLOWING THEM TO LIVE IN THEIR OWN HOMES.

MOW-ABC OPERATES MONDAY THRU FRIDAY WITH A BOARD OF DIRECTORS, 16-MEMBER STAFF AND A NETWORK OF OVER 300 VOLUNTEERS. MEAL DELIVERY IS AVAILABLE TO APPROXIMATELY 450 BUNCOMBE COUNTY SENIORS AGE 60 AND OLDER WHO ARE HOMEBOUND, WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEX, HANDICAP OR ABILITY TO PAY. MOW-ABC RECEIVED ADDITIONAL FEDERAL FUNDING THROUGH FFCRA & CARES TO ADDRESS INCREASED NEEDS OF THE SENIORS IN OUR COMMUNITY BECAUSE OF COVID-19. BASED ON THIS ADDITIONAL FUNDING, MOW-ABC RECEIVED 29% OF ITS FUNDING THROUGH LOCAL, COUNTY, AND STATE AGENCIES. APPROXIMATELY, 71% OF OUR SUPPORT CAME THROUGH PRIVATE DONATIONS FROM INDIVIDUALS, PROGRAM INCOME, BUSINESSES, FAITH-BASED GROUPS AND FOUNDATIONS, AS WELL AS ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENTS. IN FY 2021/2022 MOW-ABC SERVED 115,280 MEALS TO 921 CLIENTS THROUGHOUT BUNCOMBE COUNTY.
IN FY2021/22 MOW-ABC PARTNERED WITH MOUNTAINCARE TO PROVIDE MEALS TO CLIENTS IN THEIR ADULT DAY PROGRAM. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 8,345 NUTRITIOUS MEALS WERE PROVIDED. . MOW-ABC PARTNERED WITH MANNA FOODBANK TO PROVIDE MEALS TO CLIENTS IN THEIR HEALTHY OPPORTUNITIES PILOT PROGRAM. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR 1,036 NUTIRTIOUS MEALS WERE PROVIDED.
