NATIONS MINISTRY CENTER HELPS REFUGEE FAMILIES BECOME GENERATIONALLY SUCCESSFUL THROUGH YOUTH LITERACY AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS, ELDERS SERVICES, AND ROAD TO CITIZENSHIP IMMIGRATION SERVICES.

NATIONS MINISTRY HELPS REFUGEE FAMILIES BECOME GENERATIONALLY SUCCESSFUL THROUGH INTENSIVE SERVICES PROVIDED TO YOUTH THROUGH AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER LITERACY PROGRAMS, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING SUPPORTS, A SEVEN-WEEK SUMMER READING PROGRAM, CASE MANAGEMENT, AND PARENT WORKSHOPS ON EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES. THIS YEAR THE PROGRAM SERVED A TOTAL OF 154 CHILDREN FROM 18 ETHNIC IDENTITIES. ON AVERAGE, EACH CHILD IMPROVED 3.3 LEXIA READING LEVELS AND 87% OF CHILDREN IMPROVED IN AT LEAST ONE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL COMPETENCY. SIXTY-ONE STUDENTS RECEIVED 761 HOURS OF VIRTUAL ASSISTANCE. STUDENTS WERE SERVED NUTRITIOUS SNACKS AND MEALS, GIVEN BOOKS TO READ, AND A NEW PAIR OF SHOES AND TOYS AT CHRISTMAS.


NATIONS MINISTRY CENTER PROVIDED EXTENSIVE FAMILY SERVICES AND SUPPORT DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS. OUR DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE-CERTIFIED IMMIGRATION SERVICES ASSISTED 377 PEOPLE IN APPLYING FOR US CITIZENSHIP, GREEN CARDS, AND OTHER BENEFITS. OUR ELDERS PROGRAM SERVED 46 ZOMI AND NEPALI ELDERS AND FULFILLED 240 SERVICE REQUESTS WHICH YIELDED OVER 35,807 IN ECONOMIC BENEFIT. IN ADDITION TO OTHER SERVICES, WHEN COVID STARTED, WE BEGAN PROVIDING APPLICATION SUPPORT TO FAMILIES APPLYING FOR PROPERTY TAX GRANTS TO HELP WITH THE INCREASE ON THEIR PROPERTY TAXES. WE HELPED 49 FAMILIES RECEIVE 94,195 IN HOUSING FUND GRANTS TO HELP WITH THEIR HIGHER PROPERTY TAXES. WE ALSO PROVIDED OVER 388,600 IN MORTGAGE, RENT, & UTILITIES ASSISTANCE AS A NASHVILLE COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND PARTNER.
