THE WV INDEPENDENCE HALL FOUNDATION PROVIDES SUPPORT TO PRESERVE, RESTORE, AND MAINTAIN THE SITE OF THE STATE'S BIRTHPLACE AND TO PROVIDE A STABLE, PERMANENT AND SECURE ARCHIVAL ENVIRONMENT FOR PERMANENT EXHIBITS REFLECTING THE HISTORY OF THE STATE. THEIR MAIN SOURCE OF REVENUE COMES FROM THE SALES OF ITEMS IN THE INDEPENDENCE HALL SHOP FOR WHICH THEY HAVE RESPONSIBILITY OVER. THE FOUNDATION'S GOAL IS TO HELP ATTRACT PEOPLE TO VISIT INDEPENDENCE HALL THROUGH VARIOUS PUBLIC AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS.
