THE AMERICAN LEGION BOYS STATE OF VIRGINIA PROGRAM IS A SEVEN(7) DAY PROGRAM HELD AT A UNIVERSITY SITE TO TEACH OVER 700 RISING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ABOUT THE FUNCTIONS, ELECTIVE OFFICES, ETC., OF VIRGINIA GOVERNMENT. THE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD AT RADFORD UNIVERSITY, RADFORD, VA. THE PROGRAM UTILIZES 90 FULL TIME VOLUNTEER COUNSELORS AND 35 TO 40 VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTORS FROM STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND AGENCIES. THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF DONATED HOURS IS 350,000 AND THE ESTIMATED VALUE OF DONATED EQUIPMENT IS 6,000.
