PHOENIX EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, INC. (DBA STEPUP WILMINGTON) SEEKS TO EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS TO REACH THEIR POTENTIAL AND LEAD STABLE LIVES THROUGH SATISFYING WORK. STEPUP WILMINGTON'S VISION IS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY OF PROSPERITY AND HOPE.

IN FISCAL YEAR 2021/22, STEPUP WILMINGTON SERVED MORE THAN 300 INDIVIDUALS AND PLACED 176 JOBS. STEPUPS OPERATIONS RETURNED TO PRIMARILY IN PERSON TRAINING WHILE UTILIZING VIRTUAL AND ON-DEMAND TRAINING PLATFORMS FOR ITS JOB AND STEP2 PROGRAMS AS NEEDED. STEPUP WILMINGTON'S JOB PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO TEACH AND EMPOWER PARTICIPANTS WITH THE SKILLS AND STRATEGIES NEEDED FOR FINDING EMPLOYMENT. IT BEGINS WITH JOBS WEEK, A 32-HOUR, WEEK LONG TRAINING WORKSHOP THAT TEACHES JOB SEEKERS THE SKILLS NEEDED TO FIND AND MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT, AND CONTINUES IN STEP2, A 9 MONTH LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM. STEP2 IS FOR ADULT PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE OBTAINED EMPLOYMENT AND THEIR CHILDREN. THE GOAL IS STABILITY IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE. IN FY 2021/22, STEPUP CONTINUED TO BUILD AND GROW BEYOND TALENT, ITS SOCIAL ENTERPRISE STAFFING INITIATIVE ACTING AS THE PRIMARY JOB PLACEMENT DIVISION FOR STEPUPS JOB READY CANDIDATES. BEYOND TALENT SECURED 29 CONTRACTS IN THE CAPE FEAR REGION AND PLACED 33 CANDIDATES INTO JOBS WITH AN AVERAGE WAGE OF OVER $14/HOUR. IN ADDITION, THE PLACEMENTS GENERATED AN EMPLOYER-PAID FEE FOR THE ORGANIZATION (SEE NOTES 7 AND 10). BEYOND TALENT LEVERAGES THE ORGANIZATIONS EXISTING BASE OF BUSINESS PARTNERS AND STRONG WORKFORCE SERVICES TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ITS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS IN THE BROADER JOBS MARKET.
