CCAI IS DEDICATED TO RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE NEEDS OF VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.

ANGELS IN ADOPTION - THE PROGRAM HONORS INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES, FAMILIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS MAKING EXTRAORDINARY CONTRIBUTIONS ON BEHALF IN NEED OF FAMILIES. THESE HEROES HAIL FROM ALL 50 STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, AND PUERTO RICO AND REPRESENT THE WIDE SPECTRUM OF INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE ADOPTION AND FOSTER CARE PROCESS. SINCE THE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION IN 1999, OVER 3,000 ANGELS HAVE RECEIVED THIS HONOR. CCAI ALSO AWARDS A SELECT NUMBER OF NATIONAL ANGELS IN ADOPTION. AS THE NAME IMPLIES, THESE ARE INDIVIDUALS WHOSE CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE FIELDS OF ADOPTION OR FOSTER CARE HAVE HAD A NATIONAL IMPACT.
FOSTER YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - A CONGRESSIONAL INTERNSHIP FOR YOUNG ADULTS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE U.S. FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. THE FYI PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2003 AS AN EFFORT TO RAISE AWARENESS TO FEDERAL POLICYMAKERS ABOUT THE NEEDS AND UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES OF THOSE WHO SPENT TIME IN FOSTER CARE. AS PART OF THE PROGRAM, CCAI ORGANIZES RETREATS, ADVOCACY TRAINING, AND VARIOUS NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES WITH EXPERTS IN THE CHILD WELFARE FIELD. THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, THE FYI INTERNS SPEND TIME RESEARCHING ABOUT POLICY ISSUES AFFECTING FOSTER CHILDREN ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THESE EXPERIENCES ALLOW THE INTERNS TO CREATE A POLICY REPORT THAT IS PRESENTED AT A CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING AND RELEASED TO CHILD WELFARE ADVOCATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
CONGRESSIONAL RESOURCE PROGRAM - THE CONGRESSIONAL RESOURCE PROGRAM IS CCAI'S PRIMARY MEANS OF SHARING OBJECTIVE, RELEVANT AND TIMELY INFORMATION TO HELP EDUCATE POLICYMAKERS ON INFORMATION CRITICAL TO FEDERAL ADOPTION AND CHILD WELFARE POLICY BOTH DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL. IN AN EFFORT TO BETTER SERVE CHILDREN IN NEED OF FAMILIES, CCAI'S CONGRESSIONAL RESOURCE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES IDEAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR POLICYMAKERS TO COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY WITH INDIVIDUALS WITH PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH ADOPTION AND FOSTER CARE.
