ANGELS IN ADOPTION - THE PROGRAM HONORS INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES, FAMILIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS MAKING EXTRAORDINARY CONTRIBUTIONS ON BEHALF IN NEED OF FAMILIES. THESE HEROES HAIL FROM ALL 50 STATES, THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, AND PUERTO RICO AND REPRESENT THE WIDE SPECTRUM OF INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED IN THE ADOPTION AND FOSTER CARE PROCESS. SINCE THE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION IN 1999, OVER 3,000 ANGELS HAVE RECEIVED THIS HONOR. CCAI ALSO AWARDS A SELECT NUMBER OF NATIONAL ANGELS IN ADOPTION. AS THE NAME IMPLIES, THESE ARE INDIVIDUALS WHOSE CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE FIELDS OF ADOPTION OR FOSTER CARE HAVE HAD A NATIONAL IMPACT.
FOSTER YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM - A HIGHLY ESTEEMED CONGRESSIONAL INTERNSHIP FOR YOUNG ADULTS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE U.S. FOSTER CARE SYSTEM.THE FYI PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2003 AS AN EFFORT TO RAISE AWARENESS TO FEDERAL POLICYMAKERS ABOUT THE NEEDS AND UNIQUE PERSPECTIVES OF THOSE WHO SPENT TIME IN FOSTER CARE. AS PART OF THE PROGRAM, CCAI ORGANIZES RETREATS, ADVOCACY TRAINING, AND VARIOUS NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES WITH EXPERTS IN THE CHILD WELFARE FIELD. THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER, THE FYI INTERNS SPEND TIME RESEARCHING ABOUT POLICY ISSUES AFFECTING FOSTER CHILDREN ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THESE EXPERIENCES ALLOW THE INTERNS TO CREATE A POLICY REPORT THAT IS PRESENTED AT A CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING AND RELEASED TO CHILD WELFARE ADVOCATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
CONGRESSIONAL RESOURCE PROGRAM - CONGRESSIONAL RESOURCE PROGRAM IS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE FOR CONGRESS ON INFORMATION CRITICAL TO ADOPTION AND FOSTER CARE POLICY. OUR FORUMS AND REPORTS PROVIDE IDEAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH ADOPTION AND FOSTER CARE TO COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY WITH POLICYMAKERS IN AN EFFORT TO BETTER SERVE CHILDREN IN NEED OF PERMANENT FAMILIES.
