THE MISSION OF THE MENOKIN FOUNDATION IS TO USE THE HISTORIC RUIN AND THE SURROUNDING BUILT AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS TO TRANSCEND THE TRADITIONAL HOUSE MUSEUM EXPERIENCE. WE USE CONTEMPORARY METHODS TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PUBLIC TO CONTEMPLATE AND EXPLORE THE BUILDING OF AMERICA.

PUBLIC PROGRAMS OVERVIEW: IN 2022, MENOKIN HOSTED ITS FIRST DESCENDANTS DAY FOR DESCENDANTS OF THOSE ENSLAVED AT MENOKIN. OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDED MAKERS MARKET AND MAKERS DAY TO SHOWCASE THOSE IN THE CREATIVE ARTS AND A VIRTUAL SERIES OF WORKSHOPS SHOWCASING THOSE IN THE BUILDING ARTS. VISITORS INCLUDED STUDENTS, SCHOLARS, LIFE-LONG LEARNERS, LOCAL GEOGRAPHIC AND DESCENDANT COMMUNITIES.
CONSTRUCTION AND PRESERVATION: MENOKIN COMPLETED THE STABILIZATION EFFORT OF THE SOUTH AND WEST WALLS WHICH BEGAN IN 2020. THIS EFFORT, THE LARGEST AND MOST IMPACTFUL WORK TO DATE TO SAVE THE MENOKIN RUIN INCLUDED A FULL STABILIZATION OF WELL OVER HALF THE PERIMETER WALLS THAT REMAIN. MENOKIN CONTINUES TO PURSUE FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY FUNDS FOR FUTURE CONSTRUCTION AND PRESERVATION INITIATIVES.
