ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS THE CLUB SPONSORS UP TO 5 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO ATTEND THIS WEEKEND LEADERSHIP EVENT EACH YEAR. MORE THAN 100 YOUTH FROM THE ROTARY DISTRICT PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES THAT FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP, TEAM BUILDING, ETHICS, SERVICE, AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.WELL OF HOPE THE WELL OF HOPE COMMUNITIES IN KENYA PROVIDE LAND AND BUILD HOUSES FOR WIDOWS AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO ARE OTHERWISE OUTCAST BECAUSE OF COMMUNITY FEAR OF AIDS. THE CLUB PROVIDES SUPPORT TO ASSIST. FUNDED $2000.00.


STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL THIS WAS A FAMILY FUN EVENT WITH SPONSORS, DONATIONS AND SALES OF STRAWBERRY DESERTS AND ENTERTAINMENT. THE NET PROCEEDS WERE GIVEN TO HARRISONBURG/ROCKINGHAM UNITED WAY TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHILDCARE SCHOLARSHIPS.VALLEYFEST THIS WAS JOINT EVENT WITH MASSANUTTEN RESORT WITH SPONSORS, DONATIONS, BEER AND WINE SALES ALONG WITH FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT. THE NET PROCEEDS WERE GIVEN TO HARRISONBURG/ROCKINGHAM UNITED WAY TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHILDCARE SCHOLARSHIPS.


SCHOLARSHIPS: COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO GRADUATING SENIORS AT SEVEN LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS. SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO 10 STUDENTS FROM LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS TOTALING $20,000 IN AUGUST 2021. ADDITIONALLY, THE CLUB APPROVED AN ADDITIONAL 8 SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING $15,000 TO BE PAID OUT IN AUGUST 2022 (FY 2023).


CODE OF ETHICS AWARDS: THIRTY-FIVE LOCAL ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOLS EACH SELECT 2 STUDENTS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING ETHICAL BEHAVIOR TO BE RECOGNIZED AT A CEREMONY WITH THE ROTARY CODE OF ETHICS AWARD.
