THE FOUNDATION'S PURPOSE IS TO PROMOTE PUBLIC SAFETY BY SUPPORTING THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT IN ITS EFFORTS TO BE A PROFESSIONAL, HIGHLY EDUCATED AND TRAINED ORGANIZATION, EQUIPPED TO PREVENT CRIME AND ENHANCE THE OVERALL SAFETY OF THE COMMUNITY.

TO SUPPORT EVENTS TO CREATE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF COMMUNITY POLICING ACTIVITIES, TO EDUCATE REGARDING SAFETY ISSUES, AND TO RECOGNIZE EXCELLENCE IN POLICE WORK. THE FOUNDATION ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT TO THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT BY PROVIDING ROUTINE MORALE SUPPORT BYWAY OF LUNCHES, RECOGNITION EVENTS AND SIMILAR SUPPORT.
TO PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT AND OTHER SUPPORT FOR THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT. TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY POLICING, COMMUNITY OUTREACH, AND SPECIFIC PROGRAMS FOR THE DEPARTMENT.
TO ASSIST IN BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL, EDUCATED FORCE AND TO AID IN RECRUITING AND RETAINING A CORPS OF HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER OFFICERS, WHILE PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO OFFICERS AND STAFF PURSUING THEIR ADVANCED DEGREES.
THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES A HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO SUPPORT AND ENABLE EMPLOYEES OF THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT TO OBTAIN AFFORDABLE HOUSING WITHIN THE COMMUNITY THE DEPARTMENT SERVES. THIS INCLUDES HOUSING GRANTS AND ASSISTANCE AND SIMILAR SUPPORT.
