GIRL SCOUTING STARTED IN HAMPTON ROADS IN 1917 - HONORING GIRL SCOUTS OF THE USA FOUNDER JULIETTE GORDON LOW'S LEGACY OF DEVELOPING THE FULL POTENTIAL OF GIRLS. GIRL SCOUTS OF THE COLONIAL COAST SERVES 7,077 GIRLS IN GRADES K THROUGH 12, REGARDLESS OF MEANS, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH 4,538 ADULT MENTORS IN SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA AND NORTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA. THE GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE BUILDS ON A STRONG FOUNDATION OF FOUR PILLARS - STEM, OUTDOORS, LIFE SKILLS AND FINANCIAL LITERACY/ENTREPRENEURSHIP THROUGH ENGAGING HANDS ON EXPERIENCES. GIRLS DISCOVER, CONNECT, AND TAKE ACTION IN THEIR COMMUNITIES TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE. WITH SUPPORT FROM VOLUNTEERS, CAREGIVERS, AND 37 FULL-TIME AND 5 PART-TIME STAFF MEMBERS, GIRLS RECEIVE THE UNIQUE GIRL SCOUT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE.
