INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MRL UPDATED THE SWITCHES AND WIRELESS ACCESS POINTS AT ALL FOUR ROCKINGHAM COUNTY LOCATIONS TO INCREASE WI-FI STRENGTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDINGS. MRL ALSO INSTALLED THREE NEW WIRELESS ACCESS POINTS AT CENTRAL LIBRARY IN HARRISONBURG. MRL PROVIDED 8,511 FREE WI-FI USER SESSIONS AT ALL LOCATIONS. MRL PROVIDED 8,378 COMPUTER USER SESSIONS TO PATRONS THROUGH OUR PUBLIC ACCESS COMPUTERS.
COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT MRL ADDED 17,736 ITEMS TO OUR COLLECTION INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: AUDIO CDS 511, BOOKS 12,167, DVDS 1,140, E BOOKS 217, E AUDIO BOOKS 243, MAGAZINES 3,040, REFERENCE MATERIALS 256, VARIOUS OTHER MATERIALS 162.
READING PROGRAMS & EVENTS LIBRARY MATERIALS, SERVICES AND PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED TO THE CITY OF HARRISONBURG, AND PAGE AND ROCKINGHAM COUNTIES THROUGH A NETWORK OF SEVEN PUBLIC SERVICE LOCATIONS AND THE LIBRARY'S WEBSITE. IN FY 22, MRL TALLIED 173,780 VISITS AND CIRCULATED OVER 580,500 ITEMS. MRL HOSTED OVER 1,272 PROGRAMS THAT WERE ATTENDED BY 22,845 PEOPLE. MRL ISSUED OR RENEWED 7,714 LIBRARY CARDS AND ANSWERED 24,227 REFERENCE QUESTIONS. MRL HAS CONTINUED THE PRESCRIPTION FOR READING PROGRAM WORKING WITH A GROUP OF AREA PEDIATRICIANS TO PROVIDE BOOKS AND READING MATERIALS FOR BABIES AND THEIR PARENTS. THESE ITEMS ARE DISTRIBUTED DURING BABY WELLNESS VISITS. MRL ALSO PARTICIPATES IN A "1,000 ITEMS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN" PROGRAM.
