THE DANISH CLUB WAS FORMED IN 1931 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRESERVING AND FOSTERING DANISH TRADITIONS AND CULTURE AMONG ITS MEMBERS; IT INCORPORATED IN 1964. THE MISSION IS CULTURAL EDUCATIONAL FRATERNAL CHARITABLE AND TO PROMOTE FELLOWSHIP WITH DANES AND PERSONS OF DANISH ANCESTRY.

- ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BAZAAR - [DUE TO COVID IT WAS ONLY OPEN TO MEMBERS OF THE DANISH CLUB] IT IS A ONE DAY BAZAAR WHICH DISPLAYS THE FOODS CUSTOMS AND CULTURE OF DENMARK. ALL WORK AND PREPARATION FOR THE BAZAAR IS PERFORMED BY MEMBERS OF THE DANISH CLUB. THE BAZAAR CAFETERIA SERVES PATRONS MANY TYPES OF OPEN-FACE SANDWICHES AND PASTRY ALL PREPARED BY CLUB MEMBERS. OTHER FOODS AND HANDICRAFTS SOME MADE BY CLUB MEMBERS OTHERS IMPORTED FROM DENMARK ARE ALSO SOLD. PREPARATIONS FOR THE BAZAAR BEGINS MANY MONTHS PRIOR TO THE BAZAAR WHICH IS HELD IN NOVEMBER. ATTENDANCE VARIES BUT IS NORMALLY WELL OVER 500 FOR THE FOUR HOURS THE BAZAAR IS OPEN. A PERCENTAGE OF THE BAZAAR PROFITS AS DETERMINED BY THE MEMBERSHIP ARE DESIGNATED FOR CONTRIBUTION TO LOCAL CHARITIES OR NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS WHO PROMOTE DANISH CULTURE. THE PROFITS FROM THE BAZAAR PROVIDED THE FUNDS THAT ALLOWED THE PURCHASE OF THE CLUB'S HOUSE FOR MEMBER MEETINGS IN 1976 AND CONTINUES TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION MAINTENANCE AND ANY IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HOUSE.


- SOCIAL AND CULTURAL EVENTS FOR MEMBERS OF THE DANISH CLUB AND THEIR GUESTS - ALL WORK AND PREPARATION IS PERFORMED BY MEMBERS OF THE CLUB. EVENTS FEATURE DANISH FOOD TRADITIONS FRATERNAL EVENTS AND OCCASIONALLY FEATURE DANISH ARTISTS. ALL EVENTS ARE FINANCED BY MEMBERSHIP FEES AND DUES ANY SHORTFALL WOULD BE COVERED BY INVESTMENTS OR BAZAAR PROFITS. MOST EVENTS ARE HELD AT THE CLUB'S HOUSE. AT SOME OCCASIONS OUTSIDE VENUES ARE UTILIZED.


- CLUB AND HOUSE OPERATIONS - ALL MANAGEMENT AND MOST LABOR FOR THE CONTINUING OPERATION OF THE CLUB AND THE HOUSE IN WHICH MEETINGS ARE HELD IS PERFORMED BY MEMBERS OF THE CLUB. THERE ARE NO CLUB EMPLOYEES. PROFESSIONALS ARE CONTRACTED WHEN EXPERTISE IS NECESSARY OR TIME DEMANDS. DIRECTORS OFFICERS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE CLUB PROVIDE DONATE THEIR TIME AND LABOR TO CARRY OUT MOST OF THE FUNCTIONS REQUIRED. THE CLUB PUBLISHES A NEWSLETTER FOR THE MEMBERS WHICH IS DISTRIBUTED BY POSTAL MAIL OR E-MAIL AT THE MEMBER'S CHOICE. A WEB-SITE IS MAINTAINED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE MEMBERS AND ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION TO OTHERS ABOUT THE MISSION OF THE CLUB. THE CLUB GATHERS INFORMATION ON OTHER DANISH AND SCANDINAVIAN ORGANIZATIONS AND DISTRIBUTES SUCH TO ITS MEMBERS. THE CLUB THROUGH ITS MEMBERSHIP PROVIDES A NETWORK THAT IS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST MEMBERS IN TIME OF NEED OR WANT. REVENUE THAT SUPPORTS THE CLUB AND HOUSE IS PROVIDED FROM MEMBERSHIP DUES BAZAAR PROFITS INVESTMENT INCOME AND RENTAL OF A PORTION OF THE HOUSE TO A ROOMING TENANT. THE ACTIVE CLUB MEMBERSHIP AT THE END OF THE ACCOUNTING YEAR WAS 228 PERSONS.
